It’s the last weekend of April (we know, we can’t believe it either) and it’s looking to be a warm one which calls for time outdoors. This week you have free music nights, the Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival, a Grilled Cheese Festival, TreeFest, a favorite annual duck race, a farmers market pop-up, and more.

SouthPark After 5
Thursday, April 25, 5 – 9p
SouthPark After 5 is back! This free entertainment series brings live music, food trucks and drinks, hands-on art experiences, and tons of family fun every Thursday until May 28. This weekend, On the Border – The Ultimate Eagles Tribute will take the stage with along with free caricatures with Charlotte-based artists from 5pm-sunset. The event is located at Symphony Park, at 4400 Sharon Rd., on the corner of Barclay Downs Drive and Carnegie Boulevard, adjacent to SouthPark Mall.

Spring is officially in swing which means Music at The Met. Enjoy live music from local musicians free every Thursday next to Dressler’s and Clean Your Dirty Face. Northwest School of the Arts 30th Anniversary Gala for the Arts

An anniversary gala and silent auction to fundraise for the emerging visual and performing arts students at Northwest School of the Arts.

BOOM Charlotte 2024 Festival
April 26 – 28
BOOM 2024 will be the 7th year of the annual arts festival with a mix of indoor and outdoor venues. BOOM Fringe: original edgy/experimental art performed in intimate settings. It features ticketed performances created by the presenting artists in several small venues. BOOM Intersection: a broad range of art performed on a central stage, plus interactive installations and activities – all free and open to the public. The Intersection is the epicenter of the festival. It becomes a location for artists, audiences, and community members to come together and enjoy live art in an outdoor living room.

Elizabeth 8K Road Race
Saturday, April 27
The 38th annual Elizabeth 8K will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024. This is Charlotte’s oldest 8K race and also includes a 1.5M untimed fun run/walk as well as the Liz Kids’ Fun Run for the little ones. The course provides a fantastic tour of the scenic tree-lined residential and commercial streets of the Elizabeth neighborhood. Proceeds benefit the beautification of the Elizabeth neighborhood and TreesCharlotte.

Charlotte Grilled Cheese Festival

Enjoy a fun twist on America’s Favorite Sandwhich with an incredible lineup of melty, cheesy goodness paired with delicious drinks from 2 Craft Breweries, a Tito’s Bar, Bloody Mary Garden, and Mimosa Bar. Paws, Palms, & Pints

Join Lucky Dog Bark and Brew for a benefit event for SnipWell, a 5-1c3 nonprofit providing low-cost spay and neuter and vet care. There’ll be a silent auction, a massage vendor for dogs and humans, a dog adoption, and more.

2nd Annual TreeFest

This family fun tree celebration will include tree-friendly arts and crafts, live music, and food trucks. They’ll be distributing tree seedlings and will bring back the seedling potting station for anyone who would like their tree potted for them. This is a public event and free for anyone to join.

The 2024 Coveted Couture Gala begins at 6:30 PM on April 27 at Mint Museum Randolph and includes cocktails on the terrace, a sit-down dinner, brief auction and paddle raise, followed by dancing to live music by the band Party with the People. Tickets to the gala are $850 per person.  The Coveted Couture Gala After-Party kicks off at 9:30 PM. Tickets to the after-party are $75 and include cocktails, light bites, and dancing.
