Summer Nail Fun.

Nail polish is our favorite summer accessory at scoopcharlotte.com.  Summer is the season to show off well-manicured fingers and toes, and it’s a time to have fun.   And that’s exactly what people are doing with their nail polish this season: having fun with it!

Crystal Dempsey, spokesperson for Polished Nail Bar, says, “A mani or pedi is an affordable way for anyone to add a trend to their wardrobe.”  I’ve picked out 7 of the hottest summer nail trends to share with you.  These killer nail styles have been spotted on the runway, celebrities (like our very own Emily Maynard, one of Polished’s best costumers), and on people who surround you every day:

1.     Ombre – from clothes to hair and now down to our nails, using a gradient of the same color family looks amazing.

2.     One Different Colored Nail – add a little twist to the classic manicure by painting one nail on each hand a different color from the other eight.

3.     Bold and Bright Neon – bright neon nails not only stand out against but also look good with neutral summer outfits.  Dempsey told us that “OPI just released a cute mini-polish set called ‘Outrageous Neons’ in yellow, pink, orange and yellow.”  This limited edition mini pack promotion will be available at the beginning of July, 2012 at professional salons.

4.     Nail Art & Patterns – use Scotch tape to create the geometric lines and designs that are so popular right now, like chevron.

5.     Glitter – who doesn’t love a little sparkle?!  You can put glitter on the tip of your nails, randomly sprinkle it on each nail, or choose to paint all of your nails with glitter polish – the choice is all yours!

6.     Pastels – pastels are light and simple summer colors that look good with everything.

7.     Neutrals – simply put, neutrals are clean, crisp, and classy.

Don’t be afraid to match your nails to an outfit, or to experiment with different colors and patterns.  Keep in mind that summer is about being daring and trying new things, even if it’s just a new nail design!  The key is to have fun and get creative with your nail polish.
