If you are like us, Labor Day is just too crammed in between back-to-school and the generally crazy back-on-trackness of early September. We never travel far over Labor Day weekend anymore; we mostly stay at home and sweat it out for the last few days at the pool. This year, with cooler temps than usual, we’re thinking backyard BBQs and Patio Parties.
We pulled some pics from pinterest (now there’s a surprise) of pretty outdoor patios and parties. What we see working well at this time of year is a move to warmer, rougher, natural fabrics like burlap, rattan and wood with accents of stones, herbs and greenery instead of summers brights. Lots of this at the stores right now, and you can re-use it all season, right up through your Thanksgiving holiday table.
We shopped and found some fall table items at several boutiques this week:
We also spied our favorite new party trend on pinterest, which is perfect for the outdoor party. Serve It In A Cup.
Can we get a what, what!! 5 Layer Dip in a CUP. Tiramisu in a CUP. Mango Cilantro salad in a CUP.
Lurrrrrrve. For the desserts, clear votives from Target have got to be the way to go. Small, cheap and you can see the layers. For dressing up your salads, shrimp cocktails and 5 Layers, head to BLACKLION for inexpensive but elegant glasses and compotes. Or for a very elegant table, where price isn’t an issue, go to B.D. Jeffries for the standard bearers in glassware, Simon Pearce.
