You have probably heard about it, may have read about it, and even thought about it — Fraxel. Now is the perfect time to take the plunge. Fall is the perfect time to Fraxel, since the sun is not beckoning us at every turn. To sweeten the thought process, Charlotte Skin & Laser has Fraxel on special this month with a Buy One, Get One Half Off offer – see the flyer below.
In the past, if you wanted to dramatically improve the appearance of sun damage and wrinkles, or improve acne scars, it meant hiding from the world for several weeks while recovering from ablative resurfacing procedures. Non-invasive lasers, while very safe and convenient, require numerous treatments and often do not yield as dramatic results in skin texture and wrinkling. Fraxel – fractional laser treatments – are treatments that offer the convenience of non-ablative procedures with minimal downtime, but better, more consistent results.
So what exactly is Fraxel? Fraxel laser treatments utilize a novel method of skin rejuvenation called fractional photothermolysis (FP) that rejuvenates skin by creating microthermal injury zones (MTZ) via laser impacts that are applied in a computer controlled, geometric pattern. This causes the normal skin surrounding each micro-wound to renew and repair the laser-impacted skin. Because only small microscopic areas of the skin are impacted each treatment session, you may return to normal activities with minimal side effects.
Collagen stimulation is the key: Collagen is the major protein in our skin and makes up our skin’s structural support. Over the age of 30-35 our skin no longer produces collagen without an outside stimulus, therefore laser stimulation is an important tool to maintain our skin’s collagen.
This fractional wounding of the skin stimulates collagen production and skin renewal. It is the collagen production that improves wrinkles and texture and helps reverse the signs of aging. Additionally, the healing of the MTZs leads to removal of pigment that has accumulated in the skin leading to improvements in melasma and brown spots and freckles.
Charlotte Skin & Laser offers all types of Fraxel non-ablative lasers allowing choice and flexibility in your rejuvenation plan. Fraxel Re:pair is ablative and is reviewed elsewhere on our website.
Fraxel Clear and Brilliant (1440nm)

Darkening and light peeling of spots is expected for 3-5 days
Fraxel Re:store (1550nm)

Fraxel Re:Pair (fractional CO2)
