David Newcombe is passionate about interiors. He and Rusty Griffith (both native Charlotteans and the owners of Alexander Scott) have placed an unmistakably beautiful stamp on retail home interiors. Alexander Scott is located in the former McColl Fine Art building at 208 East Boulevard. The stunning building has carefully curated vignettes of furniture, gifts, accessories and art from over 70 vendors.
My first impression… simply elegant. A Southern, traditional store with manners. A Garden and Gun kind of refinement that is rooted in good taste.  David and Rusty have created an interior design following that specializes in “hunting, gathering, recycling and reviving extraordinary things for the home“.  Their enthusiasm doesn’t end with enhancing the home. Enhancing the community is part of their mission–like true Southern gentleman. As such, they have raised money for Loaves and Fishes, The Humane Society, Time Out Youth and last month a portion of all their sales went to  The Pink House, a unique respite center for Breast Cancer survivors.
I will let the pictures tell the rest of their story.
A “twistfully traditional” store with so many great items we couldn’t fit all the images in one story. Stayed tuned for PART II.
