Time for scoopcharlotte‘s 2nd annual Interior Design Trends editorial. We love highlighting Charlotte’s Home Design & Decor community by showing just how “on trend” they are. Last year the mid-century modern furniture rushed back into our lives (thanks to the popularity of Mad Men) accompanied by brass, emerald green and – who can forget it – chevron. Trends create an ebb and flow between dark and light, silver and gold, modern and traditional. As in fashion, it’s important to find your own style and then add in a trend or three. The cold weather has kept us cooped up in our digs, maybe it’s time for a little transformation.
I’ve done my research. Which means I have consulted Elle Decor, House Beautiful and Southern Living to compile my list of trends to look for in Charlotte in 2014. The trends we’ll present are:
Honey Toned Woods, The color Blue, Stylish Outdoor Rooms, Vintage, Corduroy, Hides & Hairs and The Pantone Color of the Year.
Today we’ll explore the many, many shades of blue we found in the stores along with honey toned woods:
Honey Toned Woods – these blond and naturally light woods make interiors crisper and even feel larger. “Be gone heaviness!” The glowing warmth of these woods makes a nice neutral backdrop for just about any color.
The Blues – were all the rage at the High Point Market. Paint the walls, wallpaper the ceiling, recover the chairs, accessorize in ALL shades of blue. Mix them up and layer them. Bonus: blues really compliment the honey-toned light woods.
Stay tuned for next week’s feature when we present the rest of the trending looks and styles we found in our QC stores.
