Amid all the print mania right now, those of us who want some visual relief can get it from a different fashion trend …. that of Wearing All One Color, or monochromatic dressing.
monochromatic :Â having or consisting of one color or hue
Easy on the eyes but not as easy to pull off, wearing all one color can be tricky. If you can’t buy all items in an identical shade, which happens about as often as you spot a unicorn, the key is to stick with one color in shades separated by several degrees. Or go with a purposeful clash like light pink and hot pink; just avoid juxtaposing shades that look almost the same.
One of our favorite colors to wear head-to-toe is white, a huge trend right now ~ check out our post on Shopping for All White in Charlotte HERE.  And of course, wearing all black is chic, slimming, and timeless.  More fresh, new and chic than either Black or White, however, is to go with any pastel, jewel tone or neutral, and blow it out from head to toe.
Choose a color that looks great on you and make a full outfit. Blending different textures and fabrics of one color is an easy way to make it work, so think leather with charmeuse, lace with linen, knit with cotton, jersey with metallic, etc. In another “rule-breaking” riff on Wearing All One Color, all denim and different shades of denim all together is hot hot these days.  Take a look at these pics and try a monochrome outfit in your favorite color.
We swung by KK BLOOM on Selwyn Ave. next to Yoforia the other day to see how Kendrick & Christianna would style the Wearing All One Color Trend. Here’s what we found:
