Indie Food Finds: Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen.

You’re known to cook with wine; whether it actually goes in the food, that’s another story.

If you need some pointers or new inspiration, shed your everyday cooking woes and pick up some culinary expertise with the help of Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen, a new cooking ‘school’ in Atherton Mill and an exclusive discount for scoopcharlotte readers.

These aren’t your ordinary “look and learn” cooking classes. During the few hours you spend with Alyssa, you’ll taste your own dishes as you go. Classes are separated into tables of four and each group is given all of the ingredients and tools (cutting boards, knives, burners, pots, pans, etc.) they’ll need to whip up a meal alongside the chef. Alyssa will instruct each step of the recipe and then let the class take over until the meal is complete.

Classes range in skill from beginner to advanced with many styles offered. Learn to cook Southern dishes minus a stick of butter in  Healthy Southern Classics or learn brand new techniques during a Light French class. With a focus on health and sustainability, you’ll be working with the freshest and most local ingredients possible. At the end of each class, you’ll plate your dishes and enjoy all of your hard work during dinner at a communal table.

Whether you go with a group of girls or for date night, you’ll enjoy the class so much that you’ll forget you’re actually in the kitchen. Don’t forget to BYOB (or wine) to enjoy while you cook and dine.
