I was in a meeting with Logan Stewart the other day, and noticed her cute FLYWHEEL Blue manicure, below. Of course I asked the polish name; of course she had no recollection at all. (please don’t tell her I posted this photo, as she will no doubt worry about the mani chips.)
This prompted me to wonder if there was an app for that….of course there is. After some digging, my favorite polish color matching app is the 99¢ iNails from the app store. It’s easy to select your swatch to match…. from a photo from your camera or stream, from a color palette or RGB slider, even from a text search.
And you get several brands and options to choose from. Â You can even shop the selections right from the app, how very 21st century of them.
The main draw back is that the app’s polish library is so extensive as to include old & discontinued shades, so you may not actually be able to buy your perfect match.
Here’s a screenshot of the app:
So now I’m on a mission to find that Flywheel Blue. Â I pull a logo, get it into my photo stream and do a color search on the iNails app for the FW logo blue. Â And I get a list of possibles.
This is where it gets tricky. Â First of all, the best match to my eyes is 2009’s aptly named Right Here Now, No More Later by MISA…..now no more.
In addition, some of the options that look way off in the bottle photos look more “right” in the swatches that I found in google searching.  I think Logan is wearing ESSIE’s Strut Your Stuff from their current collection.
Neither are quite turquoise enough, but Strut Your Stuff would be the one I’d pick if I went in for blue fingernails to match my cycle studio. Â Some of the other options that I think would work well are:
The discontinued Sonic Bloom by OPI, still available in ltd quantities thru re-sellers.
Beauty and the Beach by China Glaze
Sexy in the City by China Glaze
Thanks to all the nail color swatch girls out there for making this search fun and fruitful. Â And share this post if you think FW should just go on and co-brand their own polish color so I can spend my free time googling other things on the internet.
