When I saw this video on the news & video page on the ORTHOCAROLINA website, I knew I had to share it with you scoop readers. Next time you are struggling to make it thru that last push-up, burpee, mile, song… think of this local female super-athlete and ultra-thoner for a little inspiration. The video speaks for itself, but in case you are curious, this is the story of how local Charlotte mother of two Meredith Dolhare broke her metatarsal and with the help of a surgically implanted screw by ORTHO doctor Robert Anderson, recoverd and went on to run:
- 2,000 miles
- 7 marathons
- 12 Ironmans
- 12 Half-Ironmans
- 1 Ultra-thon
- 2 Ultramarathons
- 135 mile long race in Brazil
- and more.
Spoiler alert, since filming this video for ORTHOCAROLINA, Meredith indeed ran & finished the Badwater 135 mile ultramarathon, as the 6th woman and 23rd person in history to do so.
And since practically running around the world isn’t enough of a challenge, Meredith founded a local non-profit called RunningWorks which encourages the homeless community to rediscover the power of teamwork, discipline, confidence and respect for each other.
