It turns out that drinking between a half gallon and a gallon of water a day is one of the most important things you can do to keep your metabolism up, your body in top form and your weight in check….in addition to eating a healthy breakfast every day.
Most health experts agree, you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day. For example, if you weigh 125 pounds, that would be 63 to 125 ounces of water a day. If you exercise daily, and / or during the summer in Charlotte when the temps are up, you want to consume on the higher end of that range; when the climate is cooler or if you lead a sedentary lifestyle, then go for the lower quantity. Â Doctors are even concerned about the water intake of children, as they are seeing an increase in kidney stones in children in recent years.
While some nutritionists count any healthy liquids in the total {like unsweetened green or herbal tea}, most agree that H2O is best. Unfortunately, drinking water isn’t exactly the most exciting thing in the world, so it is no wonder that many of us are chronically dehydrated.
When I find myself slacking in the water consumption department, I add a little flavor (through fruits, vegetables, herbs, and even essential oils) to make it more appealing. Â I am even able to get my husband and children to drink more water when I add a little something extra to it ~ which is nothing short of a miracle.
It helps if you have an infusion pitcher, but any regular old pitcher will do. Â You can also add the ingredients to your water bottle when you’re on the go.
Feel free to experiment with all sorts of combinations, but as you’re about to see, I do have my favorites. Â Always allow your water to steep for at least 30 minutes before drinking. Â It tastes even better if you can let it sit overnight. Â Enjoy!
