On Thursday, June 11 the Young Affiliates of the Mint, in conjunction with the Young Ambassadors of the Council for Children’s Rights, will celebrate the power of education, culture and art on the children of our community with their Envision & Empower event. The goal of the event is to raise awareness about the issues facing children in the Charlotte community, demonstrate the benefits of cultural arts as a therapeutic intervention, and create a movement to foster the continued growth and success of children.
The evening will include stories and imagery of nine Charlottean’s whose lives have been impacted by the arts, with photography by Ben Gately Williams and keynote speakers Reverend Donnie Garris of Antioch Baptist Church and Rabbi Judy Schindler of Temple Beth El. In addition, guests will be entertained with live jazz music performed by Buff Dillard and enjoy food from Something Classic. It is set to be a fun-filled night celebrating the arts and its impact on the Charlotte community. Tickets are $40 for Young Affiliate members or $50 for non-members.
