It’s the 4th of July, ladies. Grab your fav bev, your friends, and watch those fireworks explode! We found some great spots to ensure you have more than enough action this Independence Day.
4th of July Extravaganzas
Pack a picnic and take the family to Latta Plantation from 1-4 p.m. Friday, July 3 for Botta Boats and Cereal Canoes. The crew can make small boats out of recycled materials, duct tape, and popsicle sticks to create the best floating device possible. Bring your own recycled materials or use whats provided. Drop by any time during the program to join the fun. No registration required.
The Rusty Rudder has something for you every day this weekend, but Friday looks like our fave. Jump into the weekend with a kickoff party with Captain America roaming the restaurant from 12-5pm taking pictures with the kids. {I have a feeling kids can be described loosely}. Starting at 5:30pm Woody and Dave will be playing. At 10:30 p.m. fan favorite Simplified takes the stage.
The Lowes Y is where it’s at – Friday evening for Fun, Family, & Fireworks festivities. The entire community is invited to join in all the free family fun, kids games, inflatables, entertainment, vendors and, of course, fireworks! The fun starts at 4 p.m., & music starts at 5:30 p.m. The Glass Hammers take the stage at 6:30 p.m. and LKN’s very own Rockie Lynn starts his musical love at 7:30 p.m. The colors and national anthem are presented at 8:45 and fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. Plan on lots of traffic in that area. If you can walk or ride your bike, my suggestion is to do just that!
If you’re already feeling guilty about the massive amount of hot dogs and hamburgers you’re going to eat this weekend, we’ve found a fun exercise for you! The Firecracker 5K & Super Soaker 100 yard Dash will be held at Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatic Center Saturday, July 4. It’s for the novice to the expert competitive runner. This 5k road race features a medium to moderate course, fun & festive atmosphere and race participation qualifies you for a full day of fun in the sun! The 5K starts at 7:45 a.m. and the Super Soaker at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit the HFFA Scholarship Program for Summer Camp & Preschool.
Birkdale Village will be rocking and rolling from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 4. The 6th Annual Bike Safety Rodeo kicks off the fun at 9 a.m. The rodeo precedes Huntersville’s 4th of July celebration and encourages families to become healthier through exercise. At 10 a.m. you’re encouraged to show your patriotism when Lake Norman Hyundai joins the Town of Huntersville & Birkdale Village to host the 11th Annual 4th of July Celebration. Admission and Parking are FREE!
The Westport Community will host it’s annual July 4th Parade from 1-3 pm. Saturday. The Parade begins at the Fairfield United Methodist Church, at 7860 Fairfield Forest Road, and ends at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter. A bounce house and giant slide will be set up at the Episcopal Church. There will also be yummy bratwursts, hotdogs, potato salad & watermelon.
The Town of Davidson invites you to celebrate our nation’s independence with a homespun, downtown parade and a concert on the green on Saturday, the Fourth of July. The parade will include a color guard, fire engine, and lots of patriotic residents. Parade marchers are asked to line up at McEver Field on South Street at 5:15 p.m., and the festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. All citizens are encouraged to march in the parade dressed in Independence Day attire and to decorate their wagons, bicycles, tricycles and pets in red, white and blue. A color guard composed of members of the police and fire departments will lead the parade up South Street onto Main Street and onto the town green. The concert begins at 6 p.m. and features Pushh with music of the 80s, 90s and today. Listen to a video clip here.Â
 Here’s to a safe & HAPPY July 4th!!!
