And now back to our regularly scheduled post, from the QC’s consignment guru on the best fall sales for you:

Consignment SALE versus consignment STORE; a somewhat confusing concept and why most of my conversations start like this…

Her:  “What do you do?”
Me:  “I co-own Green Jeans Consignment.  It’s a consignment sale for women and teens.”
Her: “Where’s your store?”
Me: “We do not own a store. We host 5 day shopping events in the Spring and Fall.”
Her: “Where do you get all your stuff?”
Me: “200-300 women clean out their closets and sell their items with us. They can earn up to 75% of their sales.”
Her:  “Wow, that’s awesome!  So when’s your next sale?”
Me: “Glad you asked! Here’s my card. Check us out online Our first fall sale is just a month away!

According to Chrissy Freeman, co-founder of ConsignmentMommies.com, “Consignment sales started in the south over 20 years ago in the world of moms of multiples and as church/school fundraisers, but the real surge in popularity occurred in the last 4-5 years as sales began popping up across the country to meet demand.  Seasonal sale shopping has become very trendy for today’s savvy moms.”

Lucky for us, the Queen City is host to A TON of great seasonal sales for both kids and women, but you need to get them on your calendar or they are over before you remember to go!  These fast and furious 1-5 day events are a great way to shop for brand name and designer fashion, but also children’s toys, books, sporting equipment and all sorts of baby gear.

Like any sale, the early bird gets the worm!  The best way to shop first is to volunteer at the event for early entry or purchase a pre-sale ticket.  Do your research.  Visit the sale’s website to figure out what you need to do.  Ask around – your gal pals will definitely have an opinion about their fave sales.
