Stand-up paddle boarding, or SUP as the insiders call it, is a fitness and recreational activity where an oversized surfboard and a long paddle are used to cruise along the lake or ocean.
Stand-up paddle boarding originated in Hawaii several decades ago, but has gotten increasing popular in the states in the past few years. In addition to offering people a great way to relax and enjoy the lake, paddle boarding has many health benefits including increased core strength and improved posture and balance.
Stand-up paddle boarding is an activity that all age groups and fitness levels can enjoy – you can cruise around the lake at a relaxing pace or you can challenge yourself to a full body workout by increasing your speed. You can also incorporate other fitness activities such as yoga or strength training on the paddle board. So you and your family & friends can get fit while having a great time on the lake.
