Here’s an Idea. Take A Girls Trip to See the Cashiers Designer Showhouse this month.

The Cashiers NC Showhouse opens this Saturday.  First, I must confess, I have never been, so I don’t know if this is a great showhouse or just a good excuse to grab some friends and shop the mountain stores.  Either way, the trip is worthwhile. [note, just in case you were thinking of staying overnight at the Old Edwards Inn, nope. Totally booked.]

Remember the good old days when we had our CLT version of an H&G show with the Mint….I know it was a nightmare to coordinate but we all so enjoyed that…wistful sigh.

The annual Cashiers Designer Showhouse benefits the Cashiers Historical Society, and this year’s chosen house is â€œThe Goodman Cottage,” a large home in the iconic Cashiers style located in Wade Hampton Golf Club.

15 regional and area design professionals along with 5 area landscape professionals have created this year’s showhouse on the three acre cottage estate.  The bones of the home sound lovely – soaring, peaked and beamed ceilings, wormy chestnut paneled rooms, pine and flagstone flooring – all framed by natural light from floor-to-ceiling mullioned, cathedral windows.

The Cashiers Designer Showhouse is open to the public on Saturday, August 22nd through August 30th, with an opening day, (Saturday 8/22) luncheon at Country club of Sapphire Valley with Clinton Smith, Editor in Chief of VERANDA magazine. Mr. Smith will discuss flowers as the perfect accessory for a gracious home with a presentation of rooms published in VERANDA’s 28 years of publication.

(Also on Saturday 8/22, the annual The Laurel Garden Club Kitchen Tour = so you can really make a decorating day of it)
