It is no secret that the movement of healthy eating and wholesome living is sweeping across the Queen City. New Juice Bars are opening up all over town, and their mission to bring healthy habits to our city extend well beyond the juice they serve. Although fall may be upon us, it is definitely not the time to stop fueling your bodies with fruits and veggies. See how Charlotte’s local juice scene is meeting the demand with these amazing community minded businesses.
Clean Juice
Owners Landon and Kat Eckles have certainly made a big statement just north of Charlotte. Proud and active members of the community, their love for juicing and healthy eating has been infectious. It is the perfect addition to the Lake Norman area. Clean Juice feels passionate about only using organic produce in their juices. They believe that having a healthy body is important, but having a strong spirit is also very crucial and an important message for all. They offer juices, smoothies and make sure to not miss out on their awesome acia bowls.

Green Brother’s Juice Co
Green Brother’s Juice is located in the Bank of America Plaza in uptown Charlotte owned by local brothers Josh and Jason Norris. They offer fresh and organic juice and superfood smoothies. They want to change lives by not only making ridiculously healthy options, but making it delicious and convenient. What drives them is the positive testimonials they get from their customers about how they have transformed their health by implementing juice into their daily routines. They feel grateful for the support and love since they started and make it a priority to give back to the community they grew up in. I recommend the “cold busta” shot.

Luna’s Living Kitchen
Locals and visitors alike love the crisp, fresh, clean feel of Luna’s. You will feel a sense of community while their mission of spreading love and feeding people are one in the same. Owner Juliana Luna, a native from Columbia, was taught by her nutritionist mother on how to cook at a very young age. You will find very healthy, vibrant and unique options on the menu. They are organic, mostly raw and make cold-pressed juices among other preparations. They use ingredients from our local farmers to present plant based “living” and sustainable food. It is definitely an experience you will never forget and a great place to take visitors.
I Love Juice Bar
I’m sure I can answer for new general managers Tacha Garcia and Erin Brundage on how busy they have been the last couple months…VERY! Erin has seen the demand for healthy and quality food here in Charlotte which made for an easy decision to run her own franchise of I Love Juice Bar located in Providence Plaza (by Flywheel and Chipotle). The company provides not only delicious and fresh juice but some quick meals for a healthy on-the-go option. They have loved being a part of the healthy living movement here in Charlotte. Don’t miss out on the sweet green juice that includes spinach, kale, parsley, lemon, apple and cucumber. So come drink your vegetables, grab a bite to eat and be out the door in minutes. The atmosphere and staff are so welcoming that I’m sure you’ll want to stay a while longer.
***Erin will also be opening another Juice Bar in the Park Road shopping center around October 5th so make sure to be on the lookout***

Viva Raw
After leaving the finance industry and struggling with some health issues, owner Scott Harris started his journey to better health. Juicing and a plant based diet weren’t the only parts of his healing, but were very important. Viva Raw offers cold pressed juices and raw food, but is more importantly motivated by a sense of community. With an awesome and dedicated staff, Viva Raw has added a fresh and unique presence to the 7th street public market. Their most popular juice is the Green Harvest. It’s mostly greens with a modest amount of fruit: kale, collard greens, cucumber, celery, parsley, apple and lemon. Make sure to give them a visit and try the turmeric almond milk.

Berrybrook Farm Natural Foods
Katie and Dan Jacks describe their juice bar as the “heart” of Berrybrook. Struggling with health issues drove the Jacks to gravitate to a more healthier lifestyle. They believe strongly in educating the public on healthier choices while containing a “family” atmosphere in their store. The most popular juice is their “everything juice”. It has an organic carrot base and you can add any number of fresh vegetables available in the Juice Bar that day. Their juices are prepared to order so you can watch them make it for you–they also offer call ahead options. They might be small, but their friendly and personalized service more than makes up for it. Berrybrook Farm Natural Foods has the distinct honor of being the first natural food store in Charlotte.

Gypsy Raw Products LLC
Owner Leah Thompson grew up on 15 acres of land in Canaan, NH. Including many things their family produced and sourced on their property, she learned how to work on the land, their gardens and greenhouse. This background along with enduring the physical difficulties that ensue after suffering a ski accident, was the inspiration that lead her to open up her own juice business. Gypsy Raw uses local produce in the height of its peak season and cold-presses it. They love how Charlotte is growing and feel it very important to connect the urban community with our farming neighbors. You can find their products at The Healthy Home Market, the Common Market South-end and every Saturday at the NoDa Farmer’s Market.
