Trader Joe’s has officially stocked up on all things pumpkin and just as much as every year, we’re here for it despite the 90 degree temps outside.
It’s still too early to carve but picking season is among us. We’ve rounded up the best you-pick pumpkin farms in and around Charlotte. Make a day trip out of it as many have hayrides, petting zoos and fall themed activities for the whole family. (Still looking for apple picking or corn mazes? Our lists at the links.)
Hunter Farm

Weekdays 1pm-7pm, Saturday 9am-7pm, Sunday Noon-7pm
Go to Hunter Farm for a fun-filled Saturday to catch some Food Truck delights during your pumpkin picking. Hop on the hay wagon ride to the milk barn, the petting barn to feed the animals, and then, of course, the pumpkin patch. $9 for children and $10 for adults includes a 3-5lb pumpkin.
Patterson Farm
Now through November 8 10390 Caldwell Road Mount Ulla, NC 28125
Monday – Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday 10am-6pm
The vines are still high but pre-cut pumpkins are ready for all. Check out their pumpkin patch tours here which are recommended for Preschool through second grade. The farm also has a barnyard, tractor wagon ride, corn maize and more. Prices vary based on activities.
Carrigan Farms
October 1 through the end of October 1261 Oak Ridge Farm Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28115
Carrigan Farms has been around for over 100 years and is the perfect place for Fall activities. Every hayride includes fresh apple cider and a visit to the petting zoo and pumpkin patch. Kids and adults of all ages get to pick their own pumpkins. Pumpkins range in sizes 2–20 pounds, so anyone can find their perfect size. Don’t miss the night hayrides and haunted trail.
Hodges Farm

With over 10 acres to explore, you could spend all day at Hodges Farm. Get FREE parking, admission, and a self-guided tour of the farm and animals. Pick-your-own-pumpkins are $5 and up, depending on the size. Enjoy hayrides, hay bails to play on and light refreshments for sale.
Hall Family Farm
Now through 10/31 10713 Providence Rd W, Charlotte, NC 28277
Don’t miss their send off! Just off Providence Road W, Hall Family Farm has something for everyone from pumpkin picking and a corn maze to hay rides and bonfires. Pick your own pumpkins of varying sizes for $.64 a pound. Pets and outside food are not allowed.
Riverbend Farm
Only open in October 12150 McManus Rd, Midland, NC 28107
Monday – Friday 3:30pm – 6pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 1pm – 6pm
Admissions for 2 and older is just $2 at Riverbend Farm and the fun doesn’t stop at pumpkin picking. There are plenty of activities here, including an Air Cannon (weekends only) that shoots apples for only $1 and huge slides ranging from 24-42 feet long.
Wise Acres Organic Farm
Now through 4701 Hartis Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079
Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9am-7pm, Saturday 9am-7pm, Sunday 9am-5pm
Come pick your own pumpkin, get lost in their corn maze, play in the giant corn pit, and indulge in some of the organic, delicious food and snacks. If you’ve been in the past, you’ll want to note that while there is no admission charge to visit the farm, they now charge $5 for parking on certain weekends.
Red Wolf Farm
Open to the public only October weekends 1900 HW Farm Rd Maiden, NC 28650
Saturdays and Sundays 11am – 6pm
$9 admission at Red Wolf Farm gets you in on all the farms activities. Enjoy over 60 acres of rolling hills where you can pick your own pumpkin in their before visiting the farm animals, racing down the slide, or going on a horse ride, just to name a few.
Bush-N-Vine Farm
Open through October 31 1650 Filbert Hwy, York, SC, 29745
Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm, Saturday 8am-4pm
Located closely to Charlotte in York, SC, Bush-N-Vine farm has been in the Hall family for over 150 years. They are a certified SC grown farm, growing produce and raising Angus steers. For pumpkin picking, don’t forget your sneakers and a picnic lunch. Pumpkin prices vary by weight.
