The infamous GREEN JEANS CONSIGNMENT SALE is coming back to Matthews in November and is now accepting consignors. Each spring and fall, sisters Cindy Williams and Dana Degan host this huge sale event that benefits both shoppers and consignors alike. I’ve consigned several times myself and have always earned an impressive amount back on my gently used, and sometimes new with tags, merchandise. On average, Green Jeans consignors earn anywhere from $300 to upwards of $1500. If you’re like me, you turn around and spend that profit on more clothing for the upcoming season.
Green Jeans shoppers have come to expect a wide selection of new and gently worn brand name, boutique and designer clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry and accessories. Sizes available at the sale event range from petites to plus sizes and even maternity. Don’t count out those Lululemon leggings that weren’t quite right for you either; Green Jeans also accepts workout clothing with little wear.
How does it work? First, register online HERE by Sunday, November 8 and be sure to select your Drop-off/Check-in Slot, as those fill up fast. Then start cleaning out your closets, drawers and jewelry to find the items you’d like to consign. Remember to look for stains, spots, holes or too much wear, as those items won’t be accepted into the sale. Once you’ve rounded up your items, start entering them into the online system, print out your tags and start tagging your items. Or bribe your child to get them to help you.
Once you’ve tagged everything, gather up your items and head to the Matthews location at 1050 Devore Lane during your registered time slot to drop off. Cindy, Dana or one of their volunteers will go through each item to ensure quality standards and give back any items that aren’t accepted into the sale. Then head home and, if you’re like me, stalk the computer each night to see how many of your items have sold!
Once the sale event is over, you can pick-up any unsold items on Sunday, Nov 15, from 8pm-9pm. Any items not picked up during that timeframe are donated to charity.
