Avoid the madness this Thanksgiving weekend and shop local on Saturday instead.
Small Business Saturday is back and better than ever this year in South End, kicking off at 11am at Atherton Mill Market with Mayor Dan Clodfelter. In addition to highlighting the local brick-and-mortar businesses of South End Charlotte, Small Business Saturday celebrates the power of local Charlotte artisans and entrepreneurs with over 75 pop-up shops and the city’s finest fashion trucks.
Beginning at noon and lasting until 5pm, two trolleys will circulate throughout the heart of South End, going from Atherton Mill to Triple C Brewing Company, the Charlotte Trolley Museum and Unknown Brewing Company, to help you get your holiday shopping done at each of the many shops and vendors. There will also be plenty of free parking available or even better, take the lightrail to the New Bern Station.
Each shopping venue will have music, a food truck, and beverages available for sale. ‘Cause you know, keeping well-nourished and hydrated is key to any successful Holiday Shopping foray.  You’ll need those beer breaks to keep your potassium levels stable after all.Â
Why shop South End on Small Business Saturday?
You can park once! The Holiday Trolley will be running throughout the day with stops on Camden Road (South End’s main drag), at Atherton Mill and at a special pop-up shop at Triple C Brewing and Unknown Brewing.
You can shop at unique vendors! Not only can you shop the 200 retailers of South End, 75 unique pop-up shops will be on deck, as well as a number of local fashion trucks. Here’s a short list of some of the shops on board for this year:
You can find what you need ~ South End has 200 retailers. There will be free maps to every single location and concierges throughout the ‘hood to get you where you need to go.
You can support local ~When you support local, the money stays local. When you shop at a chain, the money goes their home state.
It’s official ~ The Mayor has already proclaimed this day as Small Business Saturday. Local and State Representatives will be kicking things off at Atherton Mill that morning at 11am by reading the proclamation and supporting local.
