Hey ya’ll, it’s Bonnie from scoopTheLake. I recently had the pleasure of sweating all over the newest location of Orangetheory Fitness, located in Cornelius. I was really excited to try this workout because it’s a group setting with a trainer guiding you through it. I’ve been known to wander before when working out alone. #daydreamsbythewaterfountain.
The OTF workout is heart-rate driven, and the intensity is manipulated based on each individual’s heart rate. Â The workout is made up of three parts:
IÂ began with treadmill training, and then moved over to indoor rowing and weight traning mixed. Separated only by violent chugs of water.
During the Orangetheory Fitness Hour, you are wearing the heart rate monitor the entire time and your stats (heart rate – which helps you determine which “zone” you are in & calories burned) show up on a big screen in the workout room. You watch your own stats to know when to slow down and when to push harder. “Base pace“, “push“, and “all out” are the 3 levels. “Work smarter, not harder” the instructor yells!
At the end of the workout, your overall summary & stats are emailed to you -a very easy way to track process. There is a group cool down & after about 50 minutes (give or take) you are done. I personally burned over 550 calories & left drenched! Don’t worry, I’m totally ok with this. #takethatholidayweight
