The hot restaurant (and other) openings you may have missed.

What can we say? We’re a city always on the hunt for new places to dine, sip and explore. Luckily, we are spoiled with new eateries and bars on every corner opening their doors.

Over the past few weeks, Charlotte has seen some of the year’s most anticipated openings from Uptown to Dilworth.  In case you’ve been in the holiday craze, all decking the halls, we’ve rounded up the hottest new spots in town. Now it’s time to get out there and give them a try!

Co
4343 Park Rd. (Park Road Shopping Center)

co 2

Co has added a fourth member to their family with the opening of their location in Park Road Shopping Center. The Vietnamese restaurant has created an atmosphere that lives up to its name, which translates to “feast” in English. With community seating and plates meant to share, Co has become a go-to spot for fun happy hours and lively dinners. Favorite dishes include the Curry Laksa, in-house dumplings and the bahn-mi.

The Wine Shop

The Wine Shop has made the move from the Rusan’s center on Park Rd. to Morehead Street (right next to Dilworth neighborhood Grille) this month. The large variety wine shop will house 3,500 selections, plus a space four times larger than their Park Road location for patron wine storage. Stop by for a wine tasting and pick up a bottle of your new favorite.

Foxcroft Wine Co.
Kenilworth Commons off of East Boulevard

The hard work that went into Foxcroft Wine Co.’s second location definitely pays off.  In the cozy yet lively atmosphere, you’ll be able to sip on a wide variety of wines by the glass, purchase a bottle of your choice at normal retail prices and enjoy small plate cuisine prepared from scratch daily. And you can bet that on the first warm day the patio will be packed with plenty of warm weather vino sippers!

Amelie’s Uptown Bakery
201 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

If you’ve ever complained that a salted caramel brownie from Amélie’s is “just too far away”, you’re in for a treat. Since closing their Uptown location late last year, the owners have been looking for a new spot to hang their pots and pans chandelier, and they’ve found it in the former College Place Restaurant. The 11,300 square foot space holds all of their handcrafted treats and eats, as well as the whimsical decor that make Amélie’s a destination for visitors and locals.

Reid’s Fine Foods Market
4331 Barclay Downs

Reid’s much anticipated second location in South Park enjoyed a warm neighborhood welcome with Jan. 9’s Grand Opening Celebration. The 87 year old Charlotte staple features wines by the glass, fresh salads and sandwiches, produce and much more.

Doc Porter’s

232 Peterson Dr.

It’s time to raise your (shot) glass to Charlotte’s newest distillery. Doc Porter’s opened up its doors for guided tours on November 6. Attracted by the area’s interest in everything “craft”, the owners want to share the science and art involved in bringing vodka all the way from grain to glass. Tours include a walk-through of the LoSo (that’s lower South End) distillery with a lesson from Head Distiller and chemical engineer Andrew Porter. You’ll have the chance to taste their vodka made right on-site and purchase your own bottle.

Meat & Fish Co. has promised that Morehead St. will have a new neighbor “very soon” with their storefront opening. The company began as an anchor tenant in the 7th Street Public Market, and is excited to bring the same fresh gourmet poultry to its loyal following in their new location. We will keep you updated as soon as we have an opening date!

Pasta & Provisions on Park
4700 Park Rd.

I came, I saw, I ordered handmade pasta. That’s how it goes, right? Anyway, the second location for Pasta & Provisions is well on its way right on Park Road near Montford Drive. Be on the lookout for an opening date in late January.
