15th Annual Laugh for the Cure

Since it inception in 2002, this laugh out loud charity event has raised nearly $1 million to help local people affected by breast cancer. Now in it’s 15th year, the Komen Laugh for the Cure is taking over the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square with a night of hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions and a hilarious PG-13 comedy show.

 

 

 

16th Annual Empty Bowls

Fight hunger in our region by attending the 16th annual Empty Bowls event this Thursday. Potters donate hundreds of handmade ceramic bowls, which serve as a reminder that someone’s bowl is always empty. Attendees will receive a simple lunch of soup, sandwiches and drinks, a handcrafted bowl o their choice and a free GoPlaySave Charlotte book.

 

 

 

Swing Dance Party

Ever wanted to try swing dancing but always found an excuse? “I’ve never done it before“…”I don’t have a partner“, etc. Free Range Brewing has partnered with Gotta Swing Charlotte to bring stress-free dancing to the Queen City. The warehouse section of the brewery will transform into a dance studio, starting off with a lesson and ending with a dance party. Tickets are $5 at the door, and attendees may enjoy homemade sodas and floats by Hart’s Soda Shop (additional cost).

 

 

 

Charlotte Ballet: The Little Mermaid

Go under the sea with this classic tale of friendship, adventure and love at the Charlotte Ballet. Opening this weekend, The Little Mermaid features choreography from Mark Diamond and mesmerizing sets and costumes that make the story come to life. March 11-20.

Learn how to prep for a tasty vegetable garden with a hands-on class at Wing Haven perfect for all ages. A Master Gardener will show attendees how to build a green bed, prepare the soil and what to plant. Each child will sow a seed themselves and take it home to watch it grow. Space is limited, please register in advance. $10/Member Family, $12/ Non-Member Family.

Start the day off with the Color Me Green 5k, where participants will run through the USNWC’s trails to escape (or embrace) the green dye.
