Target’s newest designer collab with Finnish designer Marimekko promises to be another sell-out, although maybe not with the site-crashing hysteria that Lilly brought on. Marimekko is not nearly as familiar to wannabes as Lilly is, although print and style aficianados appreciate Marimekko’s simple, spirited designs at least as much as the Palm Beach style icon’s.
Marimekko was initially created to bring color and cheer back to post-World War II Finland, and the playful prints have appeared on everyone from Jacqueline Kennedy (she wore a Marimekko dress on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1960, causing an international sensation) to Sarah Jessica Parker.
Marimekko for Target features more than 200 pieces, most priced under $50, with clothing, beach & swimwear for women & girls plus play items, outdoor decor, furniture and tabletop. The girls items, play tents and tabletop are scoop favorites.
Marimekko for Target will be available on April 17, 2016. Target will carry the collection online and in all stores, through May 8, 2016, or while supplies last. A selection of the Marimekko for Target collection will be available in all Target stores, with the full collection available on Target.com. The selection of items will vary by store.
In addition, there are 26 online exclusive items that will only be available online. Plus sizes for women are available online only. Prices range from $7.99-$499.99, with most items under $50.
