One of the many things to love about warm weather is the return of bright, bold prints to our closets. I don’t know what it is…but throw a print on a piece of clothing and I’m at the register with it in 2.5 seconds flat. Pants, skirts, rompers, jackets…nothing is left behind this spring as florals, animal prints, stripes and geometrics are everywhere.
The good news is that it doesn’t take a degree in astrophysics to master this popular trend. When mixing prints, here are a few tips to remember:
match a smaller pattern with a larger print for the perfect contrast
make sure each of your prints shares a similar color story or graphic idea
keep in mind stripes and leopard prints are considered “neutrals” in print mixing
start small…mix a small gingham print pant with a lightly printed floral shirt for example
tone things down by adding a solid piece
there’s always room in your wardrobe for a printed set ~ to mix and match with other pieces and wear together.
Test out your prints and patterns with these combinations we found in the local shops this week.
