Consistently hailed as one of the must-attend food and wine events, the Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend is back in 2016 with some exciting new additions. One of which is the CWFW’s Grand Tasting Tent in Romare Bearden Park. The tent sessions are formatted as walk-about tastings and will feature wineries, local craft breweries, live music, chefs, cook-offs, and demonstrations. The entire weekend benefits five local charities: Charlotte Concerts, Council for Children’s Rights, Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center, Safe Alliance, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. The First International Sandwich Festival seems like the perfect opportunity to introduce the whole family to sandwiches and other specialties from around the world. On the UNC Charlotte’s Mobile Arts & Community Experience (MAX) stage, enjoy international musical acts, children’s sing-a-longs, dancer performances and more. Admission is free; parking on the grounds is also complimentary. This year join in on tours of three beautiful sites: The Duke Mansion, Elmwood Cemetery and Historic Rosedale Plantation. The third and final stop at Rosedale will invite participants to tour the gardens and house, enjoy a cocktail in the gardens and even purchase a plant for your home garden.
