If you listen to Channel 96.1 during your morning commute, you’ll instantly recognize Lindsay Gladden‘s voice. She’s the sweet-sounding Southern girl keeping the guys on The Ace and TJ show in line (or at least trying). Working a morning radio show means her day starts before the crack of dawn, and can keep going long after the sun goes down. Here’s a look at a typical day in the life of this former Bobcats-dancer-turned-radio-personality (check out her IG, we know you like her already):
3:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. … Wake up! I use my phone alarm, but it’s not the best idea because I hit snooze at least four times, minimum.
4:30 a.m. … Get ready for work. I never plan what I’m going to wear because nobody ever sees me (well, except for the other people on the show). I don’t stress about my outfits. My beauty routine now differs tremendously. When I had an 8-to-5 job, I actually did my makeup for work. Now I just put on some bronzer, mascara and Chapstick. There is nowhere else I would do that little! Most of the time I blow dry my hair, but sometimes I’ll wear a hat.
6 a.m. … The show goes live. I have to be at work before 6 to prep for the show.
6:30 a.m. … I check my phone for the first time. I’m always checking social media (like Instagram and Twitter) and my email. I’m constantly checking — at least once an hour.
7 a.m. … Breakfast time. I usually eat a protein bar and a lot of coffee (I use my Keurig at work).
9:30 a.m. … Lunch time! My breakfast and lunch run together. I usually eat lunch around 9:30 a.m. since food is catered to the show then. When food isn’t catered I bring my lunch. It’s nothing fancy … usually just a sandwich or something.
11:45 a.m to 12 p.m. … Work’s over! Some days I go right to my trainer, but if I’m too tired I’ll go later in the day. After the show I usually nap if I don’t have an appearance or meetings.
2Â p.m. to 5Â p.m. … Afternoons are for napping and working out, if I’m not working events.
6 p.m. … Start catching up on my shows on DVR. I go to bed at 8 p.m. so I miss out on all the good shows. My evenings are pretty lame.
7 p.m. … Dinner time. I cook anything and everything. No drinking on weeknights though — I can’t wake up at 3:30 a.m. the next day if I have wine. I hardly ever go out on the week days but I’ll usually go out Friday and Saturday nights. Just dinner and drinks — no club hoppin’ anymore sadly.
8 p.m. … Lights out!
Weekends are for: Catching up on my sleep!
