The Ballantyne Beat – shopping, dining and hanging in the 28277

It may be hot as blue blazes outside, but we’ve got some cool finds in the ‘Tyne this week. There’s a trendy boutique gym, a hip new store to buy your bags and bling and even the most adorable place in nearby Pineville where you’re definitely going to want to plan your next girls’ night.

Here’s where to sweat, shop and DIY in and around the 28277:

SWEAT

Orange Theory
14825 Ballantyne Village Way, Suite A180 (Coming soon!)

Everyone from exercise newbies to pro athletes has been raving about Orange Theory’s hour-long heartrate-based workouts that consist of half cardio and half strength. Each workout is led by a personal trainer, and classes are offered every day from 5 a.m. until late into the evening.

The newest Orange Theory studio will open this fall in Ballantyne Village, but Regional Sales and Operations Director Alysse Weatherly told us now’s a great time to buy a discounted membership. Contact Orange Theory here for more info.
Keep an eye on Orange Theory Charlotte’s Instagram for updates on construction.
While you’re waiting for the new location to open, Alysse suggested trying a class at one of the nearby existing studios in Quail Corners or the Arboretum.

SHOP

Charming Charlie
7832 Rea Road (Stonecrest, next to Michael’s and Ulta)

If you’ve never been in a Charming Charlie, you’ll need to mentally prepare yourself before you walk in. We’d describe it as a OCD jewelry and accessory lover’s dream. This shop has every piece of costume jewelry, clutch, headband, etc. you could ever want, and they’re all arranged by color. It’s the perfect place to go if you need a white bib necklace to go with your outfit for your date tonight, but don’t want to break the bank. The Stonecrest Charming Charlie will even have shoes and handbags. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

DRINK & DIY

Anders Ruff Workshop
322 Main St., Pineville

So you know all those cool painted driftwood signs and monogrammed pillow covers you pinned on Pinterest but never attempted? The adorable new Anders Ruff workshop in downtown Pineville has you covered. Grab your gals and your favorite bottle of vino and head down to this DIY studio, where trained staff (read: professional Pinteresters) will help you create something Instagram-worthy that you can take home at the end of the night.

Founder Maureen Anders (her co-founder’s name is Adria Ruff) said the workshop is an extension of the popular Anders Ruff brand, which focuses on party invitations, banners and a popular blog full of DIY party ideas. The ladies soon realized they were ready to get out from behind the screen and start personally helping people create wooden signs, custom canvas pillows, tapestries, picture frames and more. Soon, the studio will also invite other artists in to teach classes on their craft (think about a professional calligrapher teaching you the art of hand-lettering).

The best part is you can figure out which pieces you want to make based on the schedule, reserve your spot and pay — all online at arworkshop.com. That means you can literally just show up with your bottles and your besties and get ready to create.
