It’s been a little over a year since Clean Juice opened their doors in Birkdale and took the local juice world by storm. Clean juice serves 100% organic juices and smoothies, as well as the super-popular Acai bowls. For the brave, there are also cold-pressed juice cleanses for 1 to 5 days. Clean juice features over 25 different choices on the regular menu plus seasonal specialities that feature organic in-season produce.

Clean Juice owner, Kat Eckles had been juicing for 8 years before her vision came to life with the help of her husband, Landon. Kat credits her good health and energy (she has 4 kids!) to juicing with organic fruits and vegetables. One thing that sets Clean Juice above competitors juice bars is that all of their juices were just certified USDA organic.  Some juice bars actually use non-organic ingredients that are in the “Dirty Dozen” (cucumbers, berries, spinach to name a few) and are heavily sprayed with chemicals and pesticides.

Since opening in Birkdale, Clean Juice has added a mobile Juice truck and locations in Charlotte (Stonecrest area) and Concord.

All juices on the mobile truck and in the grab-and-go section are cold-pressed to preserve their nutrients. Fresh juices that aren’t processed in this way start losing their nutritional value after 30 minutes (yikes). So make sure you know what you’re drinking before plunking down $8 for a drink at just any juice place.

Yoga on Davidson is a beautifully designed new studio in downtown Davidson that offers several classes including Vinyasa, Power vinyasa and Deep Stretch in a heated environment. Not a fan of dripping with sweat in your Warrior 1 pose? While most hot yoga studios use forced area to heat the room, Yoga on Davidson uses radiant heat in their studio which provides benefits of heated practice (increased calorie burn, more effective muscle stretching) without leaving you drenched. Radiant heat has several additional health benefits including increased tissue healing, stronger immune system and removal of toxins from the body.

The serene studio encourages students to focus on the mental component of yoga in addition to getting a great workout. Yoga on Davidson owner, Annie Bolton believes in using the skills you learn in yoga – increased body awareness and mental presence – off the  mat as well. The philosophy of the studio is to engage the community and make students succeed in their yoga practice and beyond.
