Eat, Dance and Play – The Ballantyne Beat for July

While it seems like summer is approaching it’s close (no thanks to Target’s school supplies display), it’s really only just begun. Whether you’re looking to beat the heat or soak up the sun, Ballantyne’s got you covered. Here are the top places to dance, drink and play coming to 28277 this month.

EAT

Blackfinn Ameripub
14825 Ballantyne Village Way (coming soon!)

Construction is coming along quickly at the Ballantyne location of this popular EpiCentre gastropub. It’s expected to open within the next couple of months, and staff are being hired right now. Visit the “careers” tab on the website if you know anyone who’s looking for a server/hosting gig.
When it opens, expect a huge beer and wine list, a unique menu (we hear the Asian cashew chicken salad is to die for) and great happy hour specials. In the meantime, check out the EpiCentre location for a cocktail like the grapefruit-tinged “Charlotte Sipper” or the refreshing “Cucumber-Infused Water” (spoiler alert: it has gin in it.)

DANCE

Music on the Green
Promenade on Providence

7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays
Weekend nights are for dancing at Promenade on Providence’s Music on the Green concert series. Every Friday and Saturday night until Labor Day, the shopping center will host live local bands like Borderlyne, The In-Laws Band and more.
You can bring your own snacks and adult beverages (Total Wine is just around the corner), and make sure to pack chairs or a blanket. Get there early to get a good seat.
Check out the full schedule here — bands run the gambit from funk to country, so there’s sure to be something the whole family will love.

PLAY

Ballantyne Village fountain / Pokemon Go gym

Have your kids been swept into the Pokemon Go craze? Prove you’re a cool mom by suggesting an evening at Ballantyne Village, where the fountain is a Pokemon Go gym.
For the uninitiated, a Pokemon Go gym is a location where users can pit their Pokemon against other users’. For the truly uninitiated, there’s a Pokemon Go primer here. You can find more info about Pokemon Go gyms here. The bottom line is that you can let your kids battle it out near the fountain while you enjoy a glass of sangria at Gusto ($22 sangria pitchers on Fridays!) or a slice of pizza at Mellow Mushroom.
