If you’re torn between relaxing on the lake and working out, then stand-up paddleboarding may be the activity for you. Originating in Hawaii decades ago, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP, for insiders) is getting increasingly popular in the Charlotte area. Lake Norman and Lake Wylie and Mountain Island Lake all offer Charlotteans the opportunity to get out there. I mean – all you need is a paddle, a board, and some instructions so that you can spend more time on the board than in the lake.
My Aloha Paddle Sports and Fitness opened in 2010 and offers introductory lessons and group paddle boards sessions at their beautiful waterfront location in Cornelius. Every instructor at My Aloha has completed a certified paddle sports and fitness training program, so you know you’re in good hands. They also offer a huge selection of paddle boards and other lake gear if you decide paddle boarding is your thing.
Already have some SUP experience? My Aloha offers group sessions, as well as specialty classes like paddle board yoga and Paddlefit. There are also sunset and full moon (with LED lights) group paddle board excursions. It’s also a great place for a company outing and team building experience or to try something new at Girls Night Out.
Don’t live up at the Lake? My Aloha Paddle Sports and Fitness is expanding to the Belmont/Lake Wylie area in spring 2017. Make sure you stay tuned to scoopCharlotte & scoopTheLake for all the details!
My Aloha is sponsoring a giveaway (scroll down to the bottom for entry) for one lucky scoopTheLake reader – a free Intro to Paddleboarding lessons for you and a friend (over $150 value!).
In addition, mention scoopTheLake for a 20% discount on group Intro lessons in September and October.
My Aloha will be operating through October ~ with cooler temps (water stays warm until November) & fall colors the next couple months are the best time to be on the Lake.
