Uptown Charlotte is going to be alive with family-friendly festive cheer this holiday season with two new shopping events which open on Thanksgiving Day. At Poptopia Holidays and Charlotte Christmas Village you’ll have the opportunity to complete your shopping list with gifts from both local and national retailers, plus enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of the holidays.
Romare Bearden Park will transform into a German-inspired Christkindlmarkt (say that three times fast), or Christmas Village, immediately following the opening of the Thanksgiving Day parade. Open daily from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve (except Mondays), the European-inspired market will feature numerous local vendors of handmade gift items, jewelry, specialty foods, as well as live entertainment and even a Christmas tree lot. Shop for gifts for your loved ones all while enjoying bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad from headline food vendor 5Church, steins of bier from Blue Blaze Brewing, mulled wine, plus non-alcoholic hot beverages. Vendors will also be selling bavarian nuts, Lebkuchen, Stollen, marzipan, mini doughnuts, strudel and more German-inspired treats to help you savor that yuletide cheer.
Admission is free and the village will be open:
11 am to 7 pm Tuesday – Wednesday
11 am to 9 pm Thursday – Saturday
Noon to 6 pm Sunday
Closed Mondays
Beer sales begin at 3 pm weekdays and at open on weekends

From Monday, November 28 through Saturday, December 3, Poptopia Holidays will pop up at Foundation for The Carolinas in the Sonia & Isaac Luski Gallery. Stop by and shop for gift items from over twenty local businesses Monday through Friday from 11am until 8pm and on Saturday, 12/3 from 9am to 1pm.
Not Just Coffee will be on hand with free coffee throughout the week (sounds like a nice afternoon office break to me!), along with Assorted Wine Shoppe sampling wines during evening receptions.
