Here’s the inside Scoop on where to drive the kids to see the best Christmas Lights around Lake Norman.
Public Tree Lightings:
Zootastic Park of Lake Norman – 448 Pilch Road, Troutman NC 28166 – A Christmas Wonderland of Lights that’s always a great display and full of festive cheer. With over 2 million Christmas lights, a petting zoo, a dancing light show and a place to take pictures with Santa… there’s a guarantee your whole family will enjoy the visit.
McAdenville “Christmas Town USA” – an entire TOWN dedicated to displaying the best Christmas lights for your viewing pleasure Monday – Friday 5:30 – 9:30pm and Saturday/Sunday from 5:30pm – 11pm.
Tanglewood Festival of Lights – 4201 Manor House Circle, Clemmons NC 28012 – If you feel like taking a mini-road trip up north, this drive-thru extravoganza is not too far away for a day trip. Celebrating 25 years, this 4 mile route has over 100 displays of lights and an average of 250,000 visitors per year. Open nightly from November 18th – January 1st from 6:00 – 11:00pm, $15 per car.
Charlotte Motor Speedway Christmas – 5555 Concord Pkwy S, Concord NC 28207 – With it’s 7th year in the making, the light show is bigger and better than ever. Enjoy more than 3 million lights along a drive-thru 3.75 mile course. Tickets information available here. Open from 6-10pm nightly through December 31st (closed Christmas Day).
Mooresville Town Hall – 413 N. Main Street, Mooresville NC 28115 – On December 16th head on over to celebrate the holidays with Music, Santa, Wagon Rides and a 115,000 Holiday light spectacular. Activities go from 6pm – 8pm. See more information here.
Local Light Shows in Neighborhoods:
15419 Hugh McAuley Road, Huntersville NC 28078 – Known as Zimnowski Light Show – this display has been approached by the Nightly News with Lester Holt AND the Charlotte Observer. This annual holiday fiesta in Huntersville is open Monday – Thursday 6:30pm – 9pm, Friday’s 6:30pm – 10pm and Saturday/Sunday from 6pm – 9pm.
413 North Main Street, Mooresville NC 28115 – Known as the James Family Christmas, an annual light show put on by a local family in Mooresville with over 75,000 lights – A MUST SEE. Tune your radio to 90.5FM to enjoy the full experience. Here’s a time-lapse of this year’s setup.
7661 Natalie Commons Drive, Denver NC 28037 – Open to the public’s viewing pleasure, Monday – Thursday 5pm – 9pm and Friday – Sunday 5pm – 10pm. Pinnacle Shores Neighborhood, Mooresville NC – Every year this neighborhood dedicates an entire street that is all synchronized with music; located across from Queens Landing.
MacAulay Neighborhood, Huntersville NC – A nice drive-thru with the kids with a few “over-the-top” decorated homes mixed in with normal decorations.
