It is the time of year where goodies are all around and it’s acceptable to overindulge a bit. If you are going to enjoy the desserts why not make sure they are the most delicious desserts you can find in Charlotte? We have a very sweet list of places to go.
WP Kitchen + Bar
After dinner at WP KITCHEN + BAR remember to save room for dessert and order one (or both) of their indulge-worthy desserts. The apple crisp with brown sugar oat crumble and vanilla gelato is sure to be a table favorite. And with the jarred salted caramel pudding with creme fraiche whipped cream, you may just need to go ahead and order two so you won’t have to share.
Reid’s Fine Foods
You don’t have to go out to enjoy delicious desserts, try REID’S for a selection of desserts you can serve at home. Starting with Young Plantations’ pecan pie, a Carolina tradition, that is loaded with plenty of pecans. There is also a 12-layer caramel cake that you don’t want to miss. You can’t go wrong with anything with 12 layers and icing. Also, for the health-conscious, try one of the various tarts from The Naked Tart. They are made with raw, organic ingredients, and are vegan and gluten free.
Ballantyne Hotel
The Gallery Restaurant in THE BALLANTYNE HOTEL has unveiled their newest dessert, a bread pudding with whiskey raisins. This will quickly become a favorite.
If you’ve had your fill of sweet treats, don’t miss the chance to view the enchanting display of gingerbread creations from now until Wednesday, December 28. Gingerbread Lane is free to visit and open to the public.
Firebird’s Wood Fired Grill
FIREBIRD’S has a limited Winter Features menu which offers a banana cream pie with chocolate and caramel sauces and caramelized bananas. Also on the dessert menu available year round, you will find a creme brulee cheesecake that is TDF (to die for).
Le Macaron French Pastries
You don’t have to travel far to get delicious French pastries, you now can visit the METROPOLITAN (between NewDominion Bank and Tropical Smoothie) and find the newly opened Le Macaron French Pastries. The shop features a colorful selection of macarons, available in 20 flavors, each handmade and gluten-free. The menu at the shop also includes gourmet chocolates, gelato, specialty coffees, other classic French pastries and homemade candies.
Dressler’s
Also, located in the Metropolitan (there is also a second location in Birkdale of Huntersville), Dressler’s is a reliable favorite for impressing your guests. After having a delicious meal, be sure to save room for their Mom’s Apple Cake. The menu description is “enough said…caramel, ice cream” basically this is a homemade cake that you won’t regret ordering. If apple cake isn’t what you are craving they have various other items including two others “crafted with love by Joan Dressler” including Mom’s New York Cheesecake and Mom’s Carrot Cake. Basically, you can’t go wrong with the dessert menu at Dressler’s.
JP Charlotte
Located in the Westin you will find JP Charlotte, with a distinct American approach to food and an extensive menu you will not leave disappointed. This is another addition to the uptown restaurant scene. After your meal, try the vanilla bean panna cotta for light but incredibly satisfying dessert. It features strawberry, a 10 year balsamic and tarragon chips.
Popbar
If you are in the mood for a cooler treat, head over the newly opened Popbar in NoDa. Popbar serves gelato, sorbet, and yogurt, all conveniently on a stick. With 40-plus rotating flavors, you can also customize your order by dipping them in chocolate and various other toppings.
Kindred
For our Lake Norman readers and for those who are willing to make the trek to Davidson, may we suggest two must-have desserts at Kindred. The chocolate birthday cake with sweet cream ice cream and sprinkles will make you wish it was your birthday every day. And even if it’s not you can still celebrate your un-birthday. And finally, the ice cream and cookie. It sounds simple enough but something about the smooth ice cream and the salt on the cookies will make you want to order a second batch.
Cupcrazed Cakery
If cupcakes are more your speed to feed your sweet tooth, be sure to head over to Cupcrazed in Fort Mill. They offer a variety of goodies in addition to cupcakes, including cookies, cake pops, truffles, brownies, bars, and more. They also carry gluten-free options.
And if Fort Mill is too far of a drive to buy cupcakes, be on the lookout for the opening of their second location in Charlotte in March 2017.
