To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Mint Museum this year, the Mint Museum Auxiliary is throwing an Eight-O Aloha party on Friday, March 3, with a Hawaii Five-O theme, and lots of luau style.
We are so excited to go to this shindig ~ 70s and 80s music by The Bad Daddies, Hawaiian style eats and treats, even a special blood orange cocktail named the Kanawalu, which means “Eighty” in Hawaiian.
You don’t have to be a member of the Mint Auxiliary to go ~ and if you are a member, this one promises to be lots of fun. Event proceeds support the MMA mission to support the museum, and you can get your tickets here. The time is now, the event is just a few weeks away. Go on and…dare we say it? Book ’em Danno.
The big question, of course, is What To Wear.
The guys are easy this time. Hawaiian shirts and a navy blazer, or even boardshorts with a blazer & button down.
We ladies, though, need to work a little harder to channel the 70s Beach Vibe for casual cocktails ~ think tropical prints, big florals, and white jeans. Or a grass skirt for the truly inspired.
We gathered some of the hostesses of the Mint Eight-O Aloha! Party last week at the Mint Museum to model outfit ideas from event sponsor Monkee’s of Charlotte ~ Caroline O’Brien and Kristen Day are the event Co-Chairs and are Auxiliary Board members, and Lori Mountcastle is the Auxiliary President. They were TROOPERS as they posed for us on the only wintery day we’ve had all year, with huge chilly wind gusts keeping us locked indoors. However, we did manage to enjoy a few Kanawalu Cocktails at Halcyon, plus try on lots of cute clothes, so it was a good time all around.
