There is so much that we love about The Little Black Dress Initiative from the JUNIOR LEAGUE OF CHARLOTTE. It gives us the opportunity to not worry about what to wear for five days while raising awareness and funds to combat the poverty that is in our own backyard. Pick a black dress or outfit to wear from April 3rd through April 7th, sign up to participate and engage your connections on social media in conversations about poverty and encourage them to sponsor you through donations.
All monies raised supports the Junior League’s community outreach programs including Second Harvest Food Bank, Promising Pages and Alexander Youth Network.
“Although it is called The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) everyone members, nonmembers, men and women are being asked to participate,” says Erin Maddrey, Junior League of Charlotte member and LBDI committee member. “Little black suit, little black scrubs, little black yoga pants. The sky is the limit as we try to raise awareness and funds for neighbors in need.”
Last year in Charlotte’s inagural LBDI campaign, The Junior League had over 100 participants who raised over $25,000. With your help, they are looking forward to doubling that number.
We asked a few Charlotte boutiques how they would style the same black dress for five days to give you some inspiration. Traveling Chic Boutique gives you a casual look for the week, TRC W offers a conservative office option and Monkees shows us how to go from day to night with one dress.
