Charlotte Knights Opening Weekend
BB & T Ballpark
The Charlotte Knights are back at BB & T Ballpark. The home team takes the plate for their first games this weekend against the Norfolk Tides. Thursday night’s game, the official opening knight, features $3 beer specials for Thirsty Thursday, Friday’s game will end with a fireworks show and Sunday they’ll celebrate Homer the Dragon’s birthday where kids are invited to run the bases. In the second installment of their Somm Series, 5Church’s Beverage Director Patricia Smith leads a group of vino-lovers on a tour of “50 Shades of Gris”. Jazz at the Bechtler: Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers

Head Uptown for a date night at the museum. The Ziad Jazz Quartet, joined by trumpet player Justin Ray, recreates the sounds of The Jazz Messengers at this month’s Jazz at the Bechtler concerts. Selections from one of the group’s most famous records, A Night at Birdland Recording Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, include “A Night in Tunisia”, “Split Kick” and “Quicksilver”. Concerts are performed at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $14 for the public and $8 for museum members.
