Food Trucks, Local Art & Makers, Fashion Trucks & More. Here’s What You’ll Find at “Art & Soul of South End” Saturday, April 29th

Art & Soul of South End, the celebration of art, culture and all things South End, takes over Camden Road from West Boulevard to Park Avenue on Saturday, April 29 from 12-9 p.m.

Art & Soul is your chance to spend a day exploring all that South End has to offer, including 24 breweries, bottle shops or pubs, nine (9!) pet (pet!) retailers, 72 retail shops, and 43 places to eat. (yes, 43. maybe you’d better jog over and back, carrying hand weights).

While at Art & Soul, you and yours can shop local fashion trucks, artisans and makers; browse unique paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and mosaics at local galleries; watch live demonstrations; participate in family-friendly activities. Here’s a recap:

Matador Main Stage Music Mash Up

Attendees will find an eclectic mix of live music performances happening from 2-9 p.m. on the Matador Main Stage located on Camden Rd. near Park Ave.

Demonstration Stage

From 12 – 6 p.m., a small stage at Camden Road and Kingston Avenue will feature acoustic music, local artisans demonstrating a variety of crafts techniques.

Artist Alley

In addition to the 11 galleries in South End, Art & Soul of South End will feature art curated by the Charlotte Art League, with 50 local artists showcasing their work.

South End Community Makers

20 local makers from the Charlotte-area will be displaying and selling their one-of-a-kind, handmade crafts in booths along at Art & Soul. South End began as a place where people made things, these artisans, artists and the small businesses in the neighborhood carry on that tradition today.

Feast from Food Trucks

Six food trucks offering a wide range of meal choices will be on site throughout the event augmenting many of the great local restaurant choices throughout the neighborhood. Six other trucks featuring desserts and snacks will be there as well.

“Discover the Edge of Town” Trolley Tour – Including Craft Breweries

Two free trolleys will circulate throughout South End from 1-5 p.m., making stops at some of Charlotte’s most popular craft breweries, including Triple C, Sycamore, Wooden Robot and Unknown. Fun, knowledgeable guides will share the South End experience with trolley riders and will highlight what makes the neighborhood unique.

The Rail Trail Experience

Unexpected things happen all the time on the Charlotte Rail Trail, and that theme continues at Art & Soul. Attendees will stumble upon new public art installations and can walk, run or bike along the trail between the festival and much of what South End has to offer.

To get the full South End experience, not to mention burn those food fest calories, you are encouraged to walk, bike or take the Blue Line to the East/West Station.
