What’s the first thing that went through your mind when you read that headline? Was it…
A haw, haw, haw, haw. A haw, haw, haw, haw.
Same.
Music With Friends is bringing another legendary rock band to Charlotte on October 17, 2017. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer ZZ TOP, the longest running major rock band still playing with original members, will play a members-only concert in McGlohon Theater on Tuesday, 10/17, bringing to CLT their instantly recognizable, powerful, soulful and 100% Texas American rock n’ roll.
After over 45 years in the business, “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas,” is still seriously rocking it, and will perform for Music With Friends in the fabulous acoustics of the McGlohon. Expect such hits as Sharp Dressed Man, Legs, Gimme All Your Lovin’, La Grange (A haw, haw, haw, haw), Cheap Sunglasses, Tush, etc. etc.

You can email Becky Mitchener at bmitchener@musicwithfriends.com to learn more about membership in Music With Friends. Some of us invest in cars, some in luxe timepieces, handbags or clothes, and some in experiences like travel and the arts. If music is your thing (or his thing), particularly legendary performances, then you really should give Becky a holler and MWF a thorough look-see.
With each concert, you can expect complimentary parking, a major pre-show cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres and an after party that rocks at least as hard as the performances. Everything is first-class and paid for as part of your annual membership.
It rocks.
A haw, haw, haw, haw. A haw, haw, haw, haw.
Music with Friends Charlotte celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2016 with the Steely Dan, and membership won’t get much larger than the current 600 number. As Larry Farber says “This is a club based on referrals, and we want to keep it that way.” You can read about scoop’s experience at the Steely Dan concert here and the America concert here.
Maybe it’s because it reminds us of what we like to think were simpler times. Maybe it’s because we literally know all the words. But if I were looking for the PERFECT significant anniversary or birthday present for my spouse, something that would happily remind them of all of the decades and of all the great years we’ve spent together, that gift would be a membership to Music with Friends. In the words of the late Glenn Frey, whom MWF members were lucky enough to see in 2012:
“It’s a great concept,” Frey says to members at one point. “It’s been a lot of fun for us to play – I don’t want to say in a place this small. Let’s say in a place this intimate, where you can feel the band breathe and feel the music. You get in these big venues and I’m telling you, man, stuff is whipping all over the place and you’ve got your earpiece and you’re trying to drive it the best you can. But here, you feel like you’re really in the band.”
