Everyone else may be easing into the slower-paced days of summer, but luckily for us, the Charlotte food scene isn’t taking a vacay.

Here’s the scoop on events, openings and specials for the first weeks of June:

Grilling specials at Reid’s Fine Foods

Reid’s Fine Foods is hosting a Lowcountry Boil at Reid’s SouthPark this Saturday. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. for a price of $10. It will be followed by free live music on the patio from Next of Kin Trio, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Reid’s SouthPark is located at 4331 Barclay Downs Drive.

Wine classes at Corkbuzz Restaurant & Wine Bar

What makes French wine so unique? Explore four different regions and their traditions, native grapes and regional foods through six representative wines. $55 per person. Claim your spot.

Taste the latest buzz at JP charlotte

In need of something sweet? It doesn’t get much fresher than the local honey being made on the rooftop of The Westin. Managed by Charlotte Local Honey and resident beekeeper and marketing coordinator Stephanie Hunt, the bees are hard at work making honey for dishes at the hotel’s JP Charlotte, including cocktails and the 12oz Berkshire Pork Chop.  Keep up with the latest buzz from The Westin’s bees here.

Stop by JJ’s for a specialty dog crafted by Scoop contributor A Slice of Jess!

Imagine this: a smokehouse hotdog (made only the way JJ’s Red Hots can), wrapped in bacon, then topped with pineapple salsa, teriyaki sauce, cilantro-lime crema, red onions, jalepeno and fresh cilantro. Stop dreaming, because from Monday, June 5 through Sunday, June 11, JJ’s will feature Jess’ creation, the “Slice of Tiki” as their hot dog of the week for $5. Wine & Donut Pairing at StrikeCity
June 1, 7 p.m.

Who says two of our favorite flavors can’t live together in delicious harmony? As part of this fun tasting, attendees will visit six stations that pair Chardonnay, Merlot, Riesling, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, and Cabernet Sauvignon with tasty donuts. Grand Reopening Party at Saucemans
June 2, 5 p.m.

After a remodeling, South End’s favorite BBQ destination is back and better than ever. Help celebrate Sauceman’s new space and new hours with a double pig-pickin’ with Pitmaster Cole and a low country boil. Attendees will receive a free park sandwich with any beer purchase. There will also be live music beginning at 6 p.m.

Pop the Top Grand Opening Celebration
June 3, 12 p.m.

Help welcome the Pop the Top to South End with giveaways, tastings and free lunch from New Wrap Order (while supplies last). The laid-back, dog-friendly beer shop will also be giving out pint glasses for the first 50 customers.

Midwood Smokehouse Ballantyne and Lenny Boy Cue and Brew
June 7, 6:30 p.m.

Lenny Boy’s Owner and Founder Townes Mozer teams up with the Pitmasters of Midwood Smokehouse for this three-course beer pairing event. Featured brews include Citraphilia IPA, Turndown Brown Ale and a special small batch created for the occasion. $45 per person. Reserve your spot online.

Strawberry Moon Dining Experience at Heirloom
June 9, 6 p.m.

Chef Clark Barlowe crafts a five-course tasting menu to celebrate the upcoming Farmer’s Almanac’s strawberry moon. $50 per person. Purchase tickets online.

Taste of Charlotte Festival
June 9-11
Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Taste of Charlotte is the ultimate exploration of the restaurants, chefs and partners that make up the Queen City’s unique flavor. Stroll through six blocks of festival experiences, from four stages of entertainment, interactive tours, demos, samples and kids activities. While you’re there, don’t miss the chance to score a free burger from nationally acclaimed Schweid & Sons Food Truck. June 14, 6 p.m.

June 15, 6:30 p.m.

Foxy Mixology – A Tiki Crafted Cocktail Dinner
June 15, 7 p.m.

Take a mini-vacation with a tiki-inspired menu crafted by the chefs and mixologists at Leroy Fox. On the menu is tuna tartare with pineapple carpaccio and fried avocados, an island campfire cocktail, Kalua-style pork belly and an Hawaiian fried donut. $35 per person. Purchase tickets here.

Restaurant Openings and Updates

Now open – DeSano Pizza Bakery

Scoop: With ingredients imported weekly from the Campania region of Southern Italy, it doesn’t get much fresher than the Neapolitan-style pizza served at DeSano Pizza Bakery. Stop by their newest location in Cherry for pizzas made-to-order in their grand ovens by pizzaiolas, or master pizza makers. Browse the full menu.

Topgolf opens June 9 with a full-service restaurant

Scoop: If your game isn’t up-to-par, head to the full-service restaurant inside the highly-anticipated new Topgolf location. Expect sharable cocktails and specialty items like grilled angus burger donut sliders, naan-style flatbreads and bacon mac n’ cheese spring rolls. Feeling adventurous? Loft & Cellar opening soon in Uptown

Scoop: You probably have passed the building that will house Loft & Cellar plenty of times. The 3-story loft, restuarant and cellar concept is coming to the historic building at the corner of 4th and Popular Streets. The loft is an intimate bar setting with views of the city, the restaurant will offer tapas-style food with an international flair and the cellar offers an 20-seat wine and tasting room perfect for private dining events.

Inizio Pizza

Scoop: As part of an exciting expansion in Dilworth crossing Shopping Center, Inizio Pizza is expected to open soon. The Neapolitan-style pizzeria specializes in handcrafted pies using ingredients, methods and techniques straight from the birthplace of modern pizza.

Dot Dot Dot

Scoop: Conrad Hunter and Stefan Huebner team up to open Dot Dot Dot, a prohibition-style, culinary-driven bar in Park Road Shopping Center’s Backlot. Get ready for hand-crafted cocktails and a refined food menu. The speakeasy will be for members only, get a jump start on your membership application before they open here.
