No need for the end-of-summer blues. The Queen City fun continues full strength in September and October at these noteworthy fall festivals:

Chinese Lantern Festival at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

September 7-October 29 (weekly on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) | Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

The Chinese Lantern Festival will bring over 800 larger-than-life paper, silk and glass lanterns in the shapes of exotic animals and fauna to the Garden this September and October. Watch in awe as dragons, peacocks, lions and flamingos meet you at every turn, marvel at Kung Fu shows and Shadow Plays and wander through the Asian-inspired display in the garden. The 40th annual Yiasou Greek Festival brings the sights and sounds of Greece to Uptown’s backyard. Spend a day learning through multiple Hellenic cultural exhibits, watching live music and dancing, shopping, wine tasting and more. 8th Annual Sip and Stroll: Art & Wine Festival

September 8-9 | EpiCentre

Charlotte Fall Festivals

Stroll the best all-in-one art showcase with a glass of vino in hand at the 8th Annual Sip and Stroll. Photographers, painters jewelers and designers will come together to display their work at this two-day festival, complete with a meet the artist night, wine sampling, seminars, and even on-site waiting classes.

18th Charlotte Oktoberfest

September 9 | Symphony Park

The Waterfront Music Fest

September 15-17 | Queens Landing Marina Lake Norman

Hit the lake for three days of jazz, blues and beach music. At the Waterfront Music Fest, many well-known artists will take the main stage, while you take to the water with sightseeing cruises available each day. Live music will be provided on board.

Grape Stomping Harvest Festival

September 16 | Treehouse Vineyards

Sip for a cause and stomp out cancer at the 8th annual Grape Stomping Festival at Treehouse Vineyards. Take part in the “fill a jug with juice” competition, jam to live music, get a behind-the-scenes tour, try a new favorite wine and more. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Isabella Santos Foundation.

Festival in the Park 

September 22-24 | Freedom Park

A Charlotte staple since 1964, Festival in the Park will bring local art, entertainment stages, carnival activities and more to Freedom Park. Uncorked

September 23 | U.S. National Whitewater Center

Sip away at the USNWC’s wine festival. The afternoon includes tastings of four different wines, plus full bottles available for purchase. Make a day of it with outdoor yoga at 11:30 a.m. and live music into the evening.

Great Grapes! Wine & Food Festival

September 30 | Symphony Park

The 14th Annual Great Grapes event is Charlotte’s premier casual wine tasting event, with hundreds of wines available for tasting. Expect over 20 wineries on-site, live music, festival bites and more.

Fall Finale

October 6-7 | U.S. National Whitewater Center

Welcome a new season with the USNWC’s Fall Finale. The weekend-long festival features a cider sampling, a build-your-own boat competition, an obstacle adventure race, yoga and live music performances.

4th Annual Charlotte Cider Festival

October 6 | Rooftop 210

Fall isn’t just for beer-drinkers! Sip your way through cider samples and learn about cider mixology under the Uptown lights at the 4th Annual Cider Fest. Tickets start at $15 each, with a VIP option available.

Huntersville Fall Festival

October 14 | Barnette Elementary School

Now in its fifth year, the Huntersville Fall Festival is back to delight kids and families of all ages. Expect local art vendors, live entertainment from the HC Oaks Bans, Coddle Creek and Tobacco Road, special Fall activities, food trucks and a visit to the pumpkin patch.

Greystar South End Wine Fest

October 21 | 308 W. Carson Blvd.

Sip your way through offerings from 25 vineyards at this year’s South End Wine Festival. The day will also feature live music and food trucks. Proceeds benefit Classroom Central.
