The JUNIOR LEAGUE OF CHARLOTTE is making poverty unfashionable again with the third annual Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI). The week long campaign, running from February 26th through March 2nd, raises money and awareness about poverty in our community and highlights the challenges that face the over 1.6 million North Carolinians living in poverty.
LBDI participants wear the same black dress for 5 consecutive days with a pin that reads Ask Me About My Dress with the goal of sparking conversation and spreading awareness about the initiative and its objectives. You do not need to be a Junior League member to participate.
Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #LBDI throughout the week to help spread the cause through social media. New for this year, the Junior League is offering prizes for #LBDI fundraisers $100 gift certificates to Nordstrom, Merchant and Trade and KK Bloom Boutique.
We shopped the local stores for a few great options if you need a new black dress to get you started.
