The Glamour and Romance of fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, the final exhibition in THE MINT MUSEUM’S Year of Fashion, opens to the public on Sunday, April 29th. Organized in close collaboration with the House of Oscar de la Renta and the designer’s family, the exhibition is curated by André Leon Talley, former American editor-at-large for Vogue and a lifelong friend of de la Renta. It contains fashions made during the span of his five decades long career and explores recurring themes that influenced his stunning designs.
Fashion is a trend. Style lives within a person. ~ Oscar de la Renta
The creations on view offer a window into de la Renta’s world through a range of looks, from elegant daywear to resplendent evening gowns to the designer’s sketches he used for inspiration. The exhibition also pays tribute to the late Marianna Sheridan of Charlotte, who befriended de la Renta and became the first archivist for Oscar de la Renta LLC. She was instrumental in bringing the designer to Charlotte for a 2011 appearance and fashion show at Mint Museum Uptown
The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta opens to the public on Sunday, April 29th from 2pm – 6pm. The exhibit will run through July 29th at the Mint Museum Randolph.
