La Belle Helene – Opening July 31
Opening this week at 300 S. Tryon Street, La Belle Helene will offer an authentic brasserie-style menu from Chef Michael Rouleau and Paris-based restaurant team Ducasse Conseil. Preview the menu here, which features local ingredients and a selection of signature cocktails and French wines by the glass. We predict you will love the inviting and beautiful space created by Parisian designer Richard Lafond. It’s already totally INSTA-FAMOUS as one of our fair city’s fairest restaurants.
MERE’s Curated Gourmet – Opening August 17
Coming August 17 to The Courtyard Shopping Center in Dilworth, Mere’s Curated Gourmet will offer a wide array of wine, cheese and charcuterie. Expect a by-the-glass wine tasting experience, a create-your-own tasting board option of cured and salted meats and cheeses, along with preorder options for special events.
Sukoshi – Opening soon
The fast-casual concept from the owners of O-Ku is expected to open this month at 101 S. Tryon Street. Perfect for workday lunches, Sukoshi will specialize in small plates of fresh sashimi, specialty rolls, grab-and-go-sushi and customizable salads and bowls.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream – Open Now
New to the Design Center in South End, Jeni’s offers best-selling flavors and scoops made without synthetic flavorings, dyes or off-the-shelf mixes. Crowd favorites include Brown Butter Almond Brittle, Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks, Salty Caramel and Brambleberry Crisp. Jeni’s first North Carolina location opened July 27.
Reid’s Fine Foods Uptown – Open Now
Reid’s Fine Foods opened their third location on July 26 at 121 West Trade Street, offering fresh foods to order, a wine shop catering services and their famous gift baskets. Diners can expect their favorite sandwiches, wraps, salads and sides served for lunch, along with a new offering: weekday breakfast. On the menu is avocado toast, a southern fried chicken biscuit, breakfast bowl, a full coffee bar and more. Reid’s Uptown is open 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.
Reid’s Fine Foods Wine Selection
In other Reid’s news, the team is introducing their own brand of wines, starting with a chardonnay now available at their Southpark and Myers Park locations. Stay tuned for more releases!
Clean Catch Expands to Sushi – Open Now
Clean Catch in Myers Park is expanding into sushi with the help of one of Charlotte’s best, Chef Jesse Vang. Expect their sushi grade seafood, seasonal specialties and chef’s creations. Order now through Postmates or call ahead to order for pick-up at the Clean Catch kitchen.
The Queen and Glass – Open Now
The Queen and Glass is now open, giving Dilworth neighbors a go-to spot for craft cocktails and tapas. Find them at 1315 East Boulevard, tucked behind The People’s Market.
Verde – Open Now
Straight from King Street comes Verde in Ballantyne, a fast-casual eatery supplying colorful signature salads, hearty grain bowls, signature wraps and more with a focus on locally-sourced ingredients and sustainability. We can’t wait to try the Sweet Tea Vinaigrette on the Southern Harvest Salad (which you can also have in a wrap) and the seasonal Give Peach a Chance made with South Carolina peaches. Verde’s fifth location, and first in North Carolina, is now open at 15105-F John J. Delaney Drive.

Mater Dames – A Tomato Tasting

Four area female chefs (plus this year’s NC mixologist of the year) will team up with five local farms to showcase a different tomato varietal. Taste and try prepared dishes and cocktails featuring the fruit of summer. $15 per person.
Nitro Ice Cream Float Day
Sunday, August 5 |Â Birdsong Brewing Co. | 3 – 6 p.m.
Ice cream and beer? That’s a pairing perfect for the August heat. Birdsong will make this fun treat from their popular Lazy Bird Brown Ale and locally made ice cream. For the kiddos, they’ll serve non-alcoholic root beer floats.
Farm to Brew Beer Dinner
Monday, August 6 |Â Legal Remedy Brewing | 6:30 p.m.
Local farmers, chefs and brewers team up to present a four-course dinner with ingredients sourced from local farms. $75 per person. Tickets must be purchased at Legal Remedy Brewing.
Gin + Watermelon
Monday, August 6 | The Asbury | 6:30 p.m.
This popular collaborative dinner featuring two summer favorites returns to The Asbury. Chef Scott Crawford from Raleigh joins Asbury chef Matthew Krenz in the kitchen while Charleston-based Johnny Caldwell and Taneka Reaves take over the bar to create five courses of playful watermelon and gin pairings.
