UNCC’s Official Quidditch Tournament is a Harry Potter-lover’s ultimate weekend destination. In addition to watching the tournament, put your own skills to the test in Quidditch workshops, find your House Tent in a Sorting ceremony, take a ride on the Hogwarts Hayxpress, sip on Butterbeer, get lost in the seven-acre corn maze and much more.

Huntersville Field of Honor® 9.11 Memorial Event
September 4 – 18 | Veterans Park, Huntersville

Visit this year’s Field of Honor to see one hundred flags stand as a memorial to the victims of the September 11, 2011 attacks. Each flag represents an individual and tells its own story. On display through September 18.

Rock band Lipstick on a Pig takes the stage at this week’s LangTree Live concert series. Visit the shopping and restaurant retailers, grab a craft beer from D9 Brewery and park your lawn chair to enjoy the show. Admission is free.

100th Summit Coffee Songwriter Showcase
Summit Coffee Co., Davidson | 7 p.m.

Celebrate the 100th Summit Coffee Songwriter Showcase with songwriter and creator Rob McHale. The milestone event will also feature performances by 2014 Summit Songwriter of the year Rick Spreitzer and 2012 Summit Songwriter of the Year Billy Jones.

Annual Stein Hoisting Contest

Run For Green

Concert Series: Featuring the Contrabass
Tyler-Tallman Hall, Davidson | 3 p.m.

Presented by 89.9 WDAV under artistic direction from Alan Black, this performance introduces audiences to the unique character of the contrabass through pieces including Dvořák’s String Quintet No. 2, Rossini’s Duo for Cello and Bass and a chamber version of Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks. $18.65 general admission.
