What are your first thoughts when someone mentions taking a barre class? Do you assume everyone in class is a former ballet dancer, long and lean with their hair in a bun, already uber flexible with only a desire to tone up a bit? Put those misconceptions aside and let us introduce you to THE BAR METHOD.

Bar Method classes start with a warm-up, followed by upper-body exercises using free weights and push-ups. Be ready for a plank thrown in to fire up your abs in anticipation for core work coming later. Next up is a sequence of leg and seat work at the barre, this is where the famous “embrace the shake” motto comes in to play. Class finishes up with core exercises on the floor and a well deserved stretch. The method predominantly uses your own bodyweight for resistance along with a few basic props – free weights, mats and a ball.
Start your barre journey with the signature Bar Method (60 min.) class, instructors will help you learn the moves and perfect your form.
Options after you’ve mastered the Method are:
Bar Advanced (60 min.) workout challenges experienced barre enthusiasts to push the limits of their inner and outer strength with thorough thigh and seat work.
Bar Move (60 min.) class uses fast footwork to keep cardio-lovers’ hearts pounding and minds guessing.
Bar Express (45 min.) class enables on-the-go-getters to pack a full-body workout into a shorter class format.
Coming in February: Bar Restore
Bar Restore combines an isometric, muscle toning workout found in Bar Method classes with the added benefit of a deep stretching sequence to increase flexibility, lower stress levels and discover mindfulness. In this class you will start with 30 minutes of familiar Bar Method exercises with brief release stretches, followed by 30 minutes of quiet, deeper floor stretches to explore your flexibility, reduce muscle tension and soothe the mind.
