The Jungle Book

THURSDAY

Reading & Signing: Tommy Tomlinson
Main Street Books, Davidson | 7 p.m.

Celebrate Tommy Tomlinson’s first book “The Elephant In the Room” with a reading and signing of his memoir about his journey as an overweight man in America.

Opening Reception: Hiwa K: Eyes See Far, Hands Too Short to Reach
Van Every / Smith Gallery, Davidson| 6 – 8:30 p.m.

Internationally celebrated artist Hiwa K will present a talk about his work before the opening reception for his exhibition Eyes See Far, Hands Too Short to Reach.

FRIDAY

Home Grown Opening Reception
Cornelius Arts Center | 6:30 p.m.

Don’t miss the opening reception for the annual Home Grown exhibit, which features a variety of work from over 100 local artists with beautiful and affordable pieces for sale.

Modern Times Moves East
Cork and Cask, Cornelius | 4 p.m.

Be there when Modern Times beer, mainly distributed in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and the Pacific Northwest, makes its way to the East Coast. They will be featuring at least two specialty brews with more to come.

SATURDAY

Tailgate Party & Chili Cook-Off
Primal Brewery, Huntersville | 3 – 11 p.m.

It’s a full day of pre-game fun at Primal Brewery with a food truck on site, live music, a chili cookout, games and more.

Super Bowl Tailgate Party Cruise
Queens Landing, Mooresville | 5:30 p.m.

Take your Super Bowl pre-game on the water aboard a tailgate party cruise. The night includes a buffet, football highlight reel, a cash bar and more. $49 per person.

Book Signing: Kathleen Fitzgerald
Main Street Books, Davidson | 10:30 a.m.

Long Island native Kathleen Fitzgerald will be in Davidson to sign copies of her book “Solo: A Celebration of Women on Their Own – Portraits & Profiles of Never Married, Divorced & Widowed” featuring over 50 essays and photographs of women taking on life independently.

Lake Norman Humane’s Gotcha Bowl – Adoption Fair
Lake Norman Humane, Mooresville | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Lake Norman Humane’s Gotcha Bowl Adoption Fair will feature cats, playful kittens, dogs and puppies for adoption.

Mooresville Polar Plunge
Lake Norman Yacht Club, Mooresville | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Mooresville Civitan Club will host a Polar Plunge to raise money for the Lake Norman Special Olympics.

SUNDAY

Annual Superbowl Party and Chili Cook Off
Corkscrew Birkdale, Huntersville | 5 p.m.

Pre-game the big game with Corkscrew’s Annual Chili Cook Off with prizes for the best recipes. Then, stick around for the game at 6:30 p.m.

Super Bowl Party
Ass Clown Brewing Company, Cornelius | 4 p.m.

Head to Ass Clown’s remodeled taproom to enjoy beer specials, free wings and snacks and the game on the big screen projector.

Super Bowl Pre-Funk
On Tap, Mooresville | 2 – 5 p.m.

Before the game, fuel up with beer specials, a complimentary wing buffet, corn hole competition, giveaways and more.

The Big Game Party for Super Sunday
The Kilted Buffalo Langtree, Mooresville | 5 p.m.

The Kilted Buffalo will offer free food, beer specials and of course, the big game on every screen.
