Love Wins – Airing Out the “Dirty” Laundry Installation
January 31 – February 1 | Charlotte Trolley Powerhouse Museum

As part of SouthEnd ARTS’ “Love Wins” Winter Exhibition, Airing Out the “Dirty” Laundry will be installed in the Charlotte Trolley Powerhouse Museum. The two-day show celebrates the work of 20 local artists.

International sensation Pink Martini will join the full orchestra and conductor Jessica Morel for a night of lively covers and dance-worthy tunes. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. each night.

When Worlds Collide: Opening Reception
Ross Gallery | 6 – 8 p.m.

Celebrate work from Nancy O. Albert, Meg Greene Malvasi, and Leigh B. Williams in the opening reception of their group exhibition “When Words Collide: The Interaction of Art and Chemistry”. On view through March 14.

FRIDAY

Jazz for Lovers ft. Toni Tupponce
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art | 6 and 8:15 p.m.

Get into the Valentine’s Day mood with romantic tunes from Ziad Jazz Quartet and guest vocalist Toni Tupponce. Concerts are at 6 and 8:15 p.m. $16 for the public and $10 for museum members. Buy tickets online, over the phone at 704.353.9209 or at the admission desk.

February First Friday Gallery Crawl
Historic South End, Charlotte | 6 – 9 p.m.

Kick off February with a tour of South End’s art galleries. Participating galleries include Hodges Taylor Art Consultancy, South End Arts at the Powerhouse Studio, Coffey and Thompson Art and Magnolia Emporium.

Hands-on Mixology Class – Fun with Flavored Vodkas
Sweet Spot Studio CLT | 6:30 p.m.

Add a sophisticated twist to your favorite drinks with a hands-on guide to flavored vodka. Guests will make three full-size cocktails at individual bar stations.

Art After Dark

So You Think You Can Bark
Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts | 7:30 p.m.

This pet-centric night of entertainment features eight pet-testants and their trainers ready to show off their best tricks. All ticket proceeds benefit Stand for Animals’ (formerly Spay Neuter Charlotte) Medical Support Fund which will directly assist a dog or cat in need of medical care and free spay neuter services. $60 per person.

Solstice: A Yoga Celebration
Catawba Brewing Company – Charlotte | 7 p.m.

Jaimis Huff and SweatNET will host this evening of yoga, meditation and music. Come early for free body paint and glitter. $15 for SweatNET Members (limit ONE ticket per member) and $35 for non-members.

3rd Annual Murder Mystery for CF
The Daily Tavern | 7:30 p.m.

 

Participate in this whodunnit at the Stratford Castle Ball, the town of Kilmore’s premiere social event. Event proceeds benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Charlotte Chapter. $40+.

SATURDAY

Annual Free Oyster Roast at Reid’s SouthPark
Reid’s Fine Foods Southpark | 4 – 6 p.m.

 

Reid’s will host their free annual oyster roast this Saturday at their SouthPark location. They’ll start shucking at 4 p.m. and will be available until supplies run out.

5th Annual Mint Oyster Roast
Mint Museum Randolph | 2 – 5 p.m.

Head to the lawn of the Mint Museum Randolph for their annual oyster roast featuring wine, beer, oysters and a low country boil. $65+.

Art 100
Charlotte Art League | 6:30 p.m.

At this Charlotte Art League event, shop artists’ work on sale for $100 or less. $5 admission ticket gives you a chance to win an artwork as well.

Ice Cream for Breakfast Day
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

 

Who ever said ice cream was just for dessert? Enjoy a scoop (or two) in honor of Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Jeni’s will open up shop three hours early and donate all proceeds from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to She Should Run, a nonprofit working to get 250,000 women running for elected office by 2030.

Puppy Bowl at Waverly
Waverly Charlotte | 1 – 3 p.m.

This big-game themed adoption event includes football fun, tunes and adoptable pups from Halfway There Rescue competing in a cute-as-can-be puppy bowl. They will also be accepting monetary and dog food donations, plus guests will get discounts to participating Waverly merchants.

15th Annual Cupid’s Cup 5K
Starting at CMC-Myers Park | 8 a.m.

Lace up for a cause this weekend, as the Cupid’s Cup 5K and Fitness Walk supports Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Programs at Atrium Health-Pineville, Carolinas HealthCare System-SouthPark and Carolinas HealthCare System-Union.

Queen City Brewers Festival
The Fillmore Charlotte | 12 – 3 p.m. and 5 – 8 p.m.

Beer for Breakfast: A Donut and Beer Pairing Part Deux

Charlotte 10 Miler and 4 Mile Run
Intersection of Johnston Rd & Community House | 7:30 p.m.

In Ballantyne, race along McMullen Greenway to 4 Mile Creek and beyond at the Charlotte 10 Miler and 4 Mile Run. Afterward, get a champagne flute with race logo and two mimosas ($10).

Music & Laughter: Queen City Improv Room
