You can’t fully enjoy summer without the perfect swimsuit. I often hear so many women talk about how they hate buying and wearing swimsuits, but I’m here to say that it’s so important for you to find one that you love. Why? Because, summer is when you make memories. You spend time with friends and families at the pool, beach, lake and more. Don’t waste one second feeling self-conscious or worried about how your body looks. Find a swimsuit that fits great, that you’re comfortable in and that you can make memories in for years to come. Life is too short to not wear a bathing suit! Wear the dang thing, and remember that every body is a beach body.
If you haven’t heard about Megababe, what are you even doing with your life? Not trying to be dramatic here, but they’re totally getting what it’s like to be a woman today. Founded by plus size babe Katie Sturino, their products are natural and thoughtfully created to solve women’s problems. My favorites are the Thigh Rescue chafe stick, Rosy Pits deodorant and Bust Dust. Thigh Rescue works amazing! I put it on in the morning, and it lasts all day long without need to reapply. No more rubbing or discomfort. I can wear dresses and skirts without any worry. The Rosy Pits deodorant smells heavenly! Most complaints about natural deodorants is that they don’t last all day, but that’s not the case with Rosy Pits. It keeps its smell and coverage to have you feeling fresh! Just for summer, Megababe recently released a sister scent with hints of orange. Check it out! The Bust Dust is so multi-purposeful. You can of course use it to prevent boob sweat, but it’s also great for anywhere else on your body you may swear. They also just released Body Dust. Some have even used it in place of dry shampoo. Genius!
No, I’m not talking about like for babies. A one piece, whether it’s a romper or jumpsuit, is so great for summer. It’s an easy all-in-one look that’s also super comfortable. To make sure you’re not too hot in a jumpsuit, make sure to pick a light fabric and/or one that is loose fitting. I typically recommend to size up in a romper or jumpsuit anyway so that it has a blouse-y look.
No beach or pool day is complete without a good book or jams. You have got to check out these body positive and revolutionary reads and music for women. I highly recommend them. Not much of a reader? You can binge watch Dietland through Amazon and Shrill on Hulu! Here is my summer reading and listening recommendations:
- The F*ck It Diet: Eating Should Be Easy by Caroline Dooner
- Dietland by Sarai Walker
- Landwhale by Jes Baker
- The Body Is Not An Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor
- All music by Lizzo! Period!
Maybe more than any other garment, I hear women say the most that they hate and don’t wear shorts. Like what? Shorts are a summer staple, and I bet there is not one of us who refused to wear them when we were kids. They’re perfect for being on the go and comfortable during those hot summer days. So why stop wearing them as an adult? If you have thick thighs, guess what? People know you have thick thighs. It’s not a secret. And who freaking cares what other people think! You definitely shouldn’t. Instead of sweating to death in pants or covering your body up this summer, find some good fitting shorts that you feel comfortable in. For women who struggle to find a good pair of shorts that don’t ride up, I have two recommendations. First, wear shorts that are tight. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but if you wear tight shorts, they don’t ride up. Or, wear flowy, loose shorts. That way, if they do start riding up, they naturally just fall back down. It’s almost like a skirt effect. Love it!
