Want To See Gladys Knight and that “Midnight Train to Georgia”? Here’s How.

Talk about Legendary Performers. Music With Friends is bringing Gladys Knight to the McGlohon Theater on Wednesday, September 11th, and you just know this is going to be one of their best concerts ever. (…I’ve got to go, I’ve got to go, I’ve got to go…)

She’s known as the “Empress of Soul” and in addition to her number-one Billboard Hot 100 singles (“Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For”), Gladys Knight recorded eleven number-one R&B singles, and six number-one R&B albums. She won seven Grammy Awards (four as a solo artist and three with the Pips) and is an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with The Pips. It always helps me to remember the greatest hits when thinking about these star performances:

  • That’s What Friends Are For
  • Midnight Train to Georgia
  • Heard it Through the Grapevine
  • Neither One of Us (Wants to be the first to say goodbye)
  • Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me
  • If I were Your Woman
  • Love Overboard

So, we’ll likely hear these songs and many more, including some covers and unexpected treats, if past Music With Friends performances are any indication. Hearing performers of this caliber in the acoustical greatness of the McGlohon is just an experience not to be believed. You really should give it a try if music is your thing.

Every MWF concert is a fab evening, which starts off with cocktails and a huge spread of heavy hors d’oeuvres, followed by the performance and an after party. You can read all about Music With Friends in our articles on past concerts here

Here’s the schedule for your night with Gladys Knight:

  • Cocktails & Hors d’Oeuvres ~ 6:00 – 7:30 pm
  • Show Performance ~ 7:30 (usually about 1.5-2 hours, and usually starts fairly promptly)
  • After Party Immediately after the Show in the McGlohon Lobby with MORE food and MORE drinks and the amazing sounds of Sol Fusion
  • Complimentary Parking
